Cenobites of the Rail[edit]

Adherents of the Infernal Train and passengers on the realm to oblivion, the Cenobites of the Rail spread their dark gospel of the peace of the void.

Level: 3rd

Binding DC: 20

Special Requirement: No

Legend[edit]

There is said to be a terrible disaster caused by forgetfulness which has destroyed realms before it. This disaster, said to me some manner of cosmic train has wiped out countless realms from existence, each fading into the blackness of the shadows and forgotten by history. Its victims vanish as well, but rarely some retain cohesion not through determination but acceptance. They become passengers upon the train, and they travel from realm to realm to spread the gospel of the peace and tranquility of the void. These priests have been destroyed, and yet they inhabit binders to live once more.

Binders must beware, for it is said binding this vestige is tempting the arrival of the train. At least, that is what rumor says. None can say if their "train of destruction" truly exists.

Manifestation[edit]

The sound of a train draws close and light sources are hampered as a great shadow falls over the summoning circle, its shape suggesting that of a cathedral. As the shadow blankets over the transparent shapes of four ashen beings appear taking the form of friends or loved ones of the binder. They speak in the voices of friends, but tell only that the only salvation for the world and the means of escape from the pain of life is to simply cease being. When the binder rises, they shall act as their agent on this world.

Sign[edit]

The binders colors appeared washed out and gray. Their eyes, blood, and the interior of their body turn blackest pitch in color.

Influence[edit]

The binder acts as an agent of the cenobites. They will believe that life is suffering and it is better to embrace the peace of non-existence. This does not make the binder suicidal, but they may preach their gospel of hopelessness and forgetfulness to others. It's best if you put this behind you.

Granted Abilities[edit]

Amnesia[edit]

The binder can force a creature within 60 ft to make a Will save or forget the events of the last round, including this attempt. On a successful save the target gains immunity to further uses of this power for 1 minute. This is a mind-affecting effect.

Black Tar[edit]

As a standard action the binder can make a touch attack, dealing damage as per acid arrow but in melee, including dealing damage over time for having a high enough level. If a creature dies from this you can choose to subject them to rapid decomposition, experiencing a years worth of rot within seconds. However this does not affect the time limit for revival attempts.

Cease Existence[edit]

If the binder takes no actions beyond purely mental actions that do not require concentration, they can choose to cease existing. Treat this as time hop, except they remain aware of their surroundings from where they "were". They can choose to return at any time, and do once the duration of their bind ends. Once they return, they cannot cease existence again for at least 5 rounds.

Forget Suffering[edit]

As a 1 standard action the binder can touch a creature and relieve them of any one of the following status effects: blinded, dazzled, disease, exhaustion, fatigue, nauseated, sickened, paralyzed, petrification, poisoned, and polymorphing. However, they begin to forget what their motivations and purpose is, effectively gaining 1 daunt level. This daunt level cannot be removed unless they choose to remember their pain which returns the status effect as it was left off and removes the daunt level. For example, they can "restore" from being nauseated but remember later the nausea, suffering from the remaining 3 rounds of duration they had.
