An elephantine creature is before you, vaguely resembling a bullete with its stubby legs, thick body, large mouth, and silver plated armor. However its back is a tangle of strange deep red branches and within this mass you see dozens of small red fruits. The creature seems to have no eyes, until you spot the two heads on the tips of its scorpion-like tails.
Outsiders rarely need to eat, but it doesn't mean they don't enjoy food, and sometimes they must feast for visitors to their plane. Upon the sloping planes and within the bosom of the earth, great beasts known as cibatel roam. In spite their beastly appearance they are actually powerful logos angels whose purpose is to generate food. They consume all matter of things, converting it into divine energy which then blossoms as rich nourishing fruits. Slow and gentle, it is considered blasphemy to assault one or to rip greedily at its branches, for to do so is to provoke its ire.
Cibatel greatly resemble bulettes, the infamous land shark, given the general frame of their bodies and their silver armor plates. The back is dominated by a garden of unnaturally tough brambles decked with countless red fruits of various sizes and shapes, and everywhere it travels its path is littered by fruits which drop off, but never rot. Its eyes are not on its front, which is dominated entirely by a giant mouth with two powerful and drill-shaped tusks. Instead it possesses two scorpion-like tails, each tipped with a mask-like human face. It possesses six powerful legs whose shape resembles castle towers, and six halos which float one above each leg.
Besides converting raw matter into food, some cibatel are found on the battlefields of angelic hosts. These cibatel act as cleanup crew, devouring unholy and foul creatures and artifacts and purifying them within the divine engines within their stomachs. They also are durable tanks and fighters unto themselves, and often act as mobile siege platforms.
Cibatel speak Common and Celestial, their voices echoing as they speak out of two mouths. When angered its frontal mouth bellows in a deep draconic voice, and it rarely says anything but threats of retribution for blasphemers. Easily the size of an elephant, it weighs an impossible 60,000 lbs, but still moves with a surprising speed for its weight and stubby legs.
Combat[edit]
A cibatel is straight forward in combat, charging at foes and either flinging them aside with its tusks, breaking their equipment, or biting and devouring them. Those who attempt to fight at range must face its light breath, as it takes on a more defensive roll, going prone if needed and digging into the earth to evade. It is not bright, but knows well enough to minimize the number of opponents on the field as soon as possible.
Augmented Natural Weapons (Ex): A cibatel's bite and tusk attacks count as adamantine weapons. In addition its tails have a longer than normal reach, and are able to strike out as if it were a Huge (tall) creature instead of Huge (long).
Drill Tusk (Ex): A cibatel has powerful tusks which spin like drill bits when it is burrowing or attacking. It makes gives it two options on the battlefield. First, if the cibatel charges and attacks with its gore and hits, it can then make a bull rush attempt as a free action without provoking, flinging the offending target away. It does not follow the creature it pushes away.
Second, if it makes a critical hit it can roll again to confirm. If the second confirmation is successful it deals 1d6 Con damage as it tears into the creature.
Extraordinary Health (Ex): A cibatel always receives maximum hit points per hit die.
Hungry Healing (Ex): A cibatel can devour a 5ft cube of unattended matter, or a large or smaller unattended object, with hardness of 20 or less as a move action without provoking attacks of opportunity. Treat this as if the object were subject to a disintegrate spell, up to and including the ability to eat force effects (though this doesn't count as "matter" for this purpose). Whenever the cibatel eats it regains it's Con modifier (15) in hp.
A cibatel can attempt to eat the ground out from under a creature. Creatures in the area can make a DC 15 Reflex save to avoid falling in the subsequent pit.
Improved Grab (Ex): To use this ability, a cibatel must hit with a bite attack. It can then attempt to start a grapple as a free action without provoking an attack of opportunity. If it wins the grapple check, it establishes a hold and can try to swallow the foe the following round.
Fruiting Body (Ex): A cibatel emits fruits from its body, which has the effect of honey ambrosia for those who eat it. The cibatel makes enough fruit for 1 cup of honey ambrosia each hour (up to 5 people). However when agitated the fruits glow a baleful red color, and those attempting to consume the fruit are instead poisoned (DC 15 Fortitude, sickened/nauseated for 1 minute) with no benefit.
Those attacking in melee in this agitated state burst some of the fruiting bodies into small explosions of light, which deal 1 point of divine damage in retribution to the attacker.
Immunities (Ex): Cibatel are immune to fear, disease, mind-affecting effects, and poison. It is also immune to ability damage, ability drain, death effects, energy drain, paralysis, and polymorphing.
Light Breath (Ex): A cibatel has a powerful breath weapon composed of two cones of divine light, converted energy from its stomachs weaponized through the human faces on its tale. It gains two 120 ft lines that deal 1d4 points of damage per HD (or 9d4) each of [Light] damage, with a DC 29 Reflex save for half. [Darkness] effects of 5th level or lower are automatically dispelled by the beam. A creature hit by both beams gets two saving throws to reduce damage from the beams separately. Once fired, it cannot fire the beams again for 1d4 rounds. The saving throw is Constitution based.
Quaking Movement (Ex): A cibatel shakes the very ground it moves across. Any time it passes within 10 ft of a creature while moving the creature must succeed on a DC 15 Reflex save or fall prone. It can only affect a creature once per round, no matter how many times it passes by a creature.
Stomp (Ex): A cibatel can use stomp at will (fully augmented), though it is an extraordinary effect, DC 23. The save DC is Strength-based.
Swallow Whole (Ex): A cibatel can try to swallow a grabbed opponent of up to two sizes smaller by making a successful grapple check. The swallowed creature is sent to one of its countless extradimensional stomachs where it is converted into pure divine energy, dealing 3d6+12 divine damage each round. A swallowed creature can cut its way out by using a light slashing or piercing weapon to deal 25 points of damage to the stomach (AC 12). Once the creature exits, muscular action closes the hole; another swallowed opponent must cut its own way out.
Because the stomach is an extradimensional space, and a new stomach is created for each creature or object that falls in, the cibatel can technically swallow a limitless number of creatures.
Trample (Ex): Reflex half DC 26. The save DC is Strength-based.
Ultra Stability (Ex): A cibatel gains a +20 bonus on ability checks made to resist being bull rushed or tripped when standing on the ground (but not when climbing, flying, riding, or otherwise not standing firmly on the ground).
