Dirgesinger[edit]
“ | I am never going to give you up, I need you in my life. I will bring you back. | ” |
—Unknown Human Dirgesinger |
Some bards are connected to death and decay, understanding the increasing entropy of existence and that in the end all things, songs and people, perish and are forgotten. These bards also understand that the dead know ancient songs, forgotten people, memories, forever stashed in the archive of death. These bards tap into the knowledge of the dead, to learn some of their most hidden secrets, and become powerful necromancers in the process.
The path that leads a bard into becoming a dirgesinger is tumultuous and varied. Some are brought into the dark art through mourning a loved one, while others simply seek secrets held only by cold, dead lips. The power of a dirgesinger is sinister and a sight to behold, their mastery of undeath equaling that of necromancers.

Class Features[edit]
All of the following are class features of the Dirgesinger.
Spellcasting: At each level, you gain new spells per day and an increase in caster level (and spells known, if applicable) as if you had also gained a level in a spellcasting class to which you belonged before adding the prestige class level. You do not, however, gain any other benefit a character of that class would have gained. If you had more than one arcane spellcasting class before becoming a dirgesinger, you must decide which class to add each level for the purpose of determining spells per day, caster level, and spells known.
Bardic Music: A dirgesinger adds her class level to her bard level for the purpose of determining how many uses of bardic music (or bardic performance) she has per round, and the effect and DC of her bardic music. This does not grant the dirgesinger any new bardic abilities however.
Expanded Spellcasting: A dirgesinger is a capable necromancer, being able to learn several powerful necromancy spells. Upon taking her first level in dirgesinger, she add the spells on the list below to her bard spell list, although they must be selected as spell known as normal. Upon gaining this class feature, the dirgesinger may choose up to a single spell of each level she can cast to replace for a spell of the same level on the list below.
0—disrupt undead, ray of frost, touch of fatigue.
1st—corpse puppet, chill touch, inflict light wounds, unhallowed blows.
2nd—boneshaker, burst of decay, command undead, ghoul touch, inflict moderate wounds, kelgore’s grave mistPHB2, spectral hand.
3rd—animate dead, doom scarabsPHB2, inflict serious wounds, ray of exhaustion, unhallowed blows, greater, vampiric touch.
4th—boneshatter, explosion of rot, inflict critical wounds, bloatbomb, spectral barrage.
5th— create undead, channeled lifetheftCM, gravehorde, mass inflict light wounds, spiritwallCA, waves of fatigue.
6th—banshee blast, create greater undead, circle of death, harm, mass inflict moderate wounds, waves of exhaustion.
Dirgesong (Su): At 2nd level and each level thereafter, a dirgesinger learns a single dirgesong from the list below. A dirgesong is considered a bardic music for all intent and purpose, and uses from the same pool of use as bardic music and have the same DCs as the dirgesinger’s bardic music.
Ballad of Sorrow: A dirgesinger can bring intense sorrow, guilt and grief into others with this dark melody. This performance behaves the the dirge of doom bardic performance. If the dirgesinger gains dirge of doom later or already had it, she increases its range to 60 ft.
Dirge of Awakening: When a dirge singer start performing this dirgesong, she chooses a single dead creature within 60 feet whose has no more HD is now higher than twice the dirgesinger’s bard level. The target is immediately raised with the zombified under the control of the dirgesinger. The target is raised with half of its maximum hit points and remains in existence for as long as the dirgesinger performs. As a move action, a cairsinger may have the target perform any actions it was capable of in life during it turns, ignoring the typical limitation of the zombified condition. If the target is destroyed, or the dirgesinger ceases performing, it cannot be reanimated with song of awakening again.
Serenade of the Bone Legion:As the dirgesinger plays this insidious tune, the bones of fallen creatures animate creating her effective bard level –2 in skeletal servants. She may create one or more servant at her choice, choosing between bonedrakes, skeleton elite warriors, human warrior skeletons or spellbones. All of her servants appear within 120 feet of her 1 round after performing, ready to act on her initiative. These servants last as long as she performs or until slain, at which point they crumble into dust and bone meal.
Song of Apparitions: This performance conjures a horrific apparition, which terrorizes her foes. When she start performing, she choose a 20-ft radius area to become haunted. Any creature moving through the area that are not immune to fear-effect treat it as a difficult terrain. Additionally, whenever the dirgesinger concentrates, she chooses a single creature within the chosen area, that creature is stunned for 1 round and take 1d6 point of Wisdom damage. A successful save renders the target immune to further use of this performance for 24 hours. This is a mind-affecting fear effect.
Thanamelody (Ex): A 3rd level dirgesinger is capable of muttering dark spells while she is using her bardic music. As a full-round action action, she may concentrate on a bardic music and cast a spell of the necromancy school at the same time. At 7th level she may do so as a standard action.
A pathfinder bard instead gains a +1 bonus on DC for her necromancy spells, which stacks with Spell Focus and similar bonuses. At 7th level the bonus to DCs increases by 1.
Jaded Countenance (Ex): A 5th level dirgesinger has become utterly indifferent in the face of death and sorrow. As a result she is now immune to fear and morale penalties.
Dark Conductor (Ex): A 9th level dirgesinger can control 2 additional hit dice worth of undead per caster level. Additionally, creatures of the undead type take a –2 penalty on their Will saving throws against a dirgesinger’s bardic music and spells.
Master Dirgesinger (Ex): A 10th level dirgesinger can inject her dirgesong into her other performance. Whenever she starts a bardic music, she may perform a both a regular bardic music and a dirgesong at the same time. Doing so however uses two use of bardic music for the day. A pathfinder bard instead spends two rounds of bardic performance per day instead.
