Glacial Rider

A glacial rider is a mighty cavalier riding on an icy steed. These cavaliers do not ride living mounts, instead creating theirs with ice, snow and magic. A glacial rider eschew the use of tactics, instead relying on their limited hexes and combat skills.

Class: Cavalier

Level: 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th, 9th, 13th, 17th,

Replaces: Challenge (Altered), Mount (Altered), Tactician, Expert Trainer, Greater Tactician, Master Tactician

Benefit: A Glacial Cavalier gain the following class features:

Order Restriction: A glacial rider can only select the Order of the Green, Order of the Land or Order of the Sword as her order. She can also become a Knight-Errant. A glacial rider uses her Intelligence rather than her Charisma for the purpose of determining her the effectiveness of her abilities and DCs.

Chilling Challenge (Ex): The extra damage dealt by glacial rider's challenge is dealt as cold damage.

Glacial Steed (Ex): This class ability functions as the mount class feature, except her mount is made of snow and ice given life. A glacial steed is statistically a normal mount except it possesses the cold subtype, its movement speeds are reduced by 10 ft and it gains bonus hit point as a construct of it size (maximum 5 hit points per HDs) and is destroyed once it hits 0 hit points. Unlike a normal mount, a glacial steed is a creation of ice and snow, and thus unerringly obeys its creator to which it has a telepathic link of 1 mile, it does not learn tricks like a normal animal companion. If a glacial steed spends more than 24 hours outside it's master telepathic link it melts away into nothingness.

A slain glacial steed can be rebuilt with ice and snow with a 8 hours ritual, or over the course of a minute if such elements are abundant. The glacial steed returns with half of its maximum hit points and any ability damage, drain, negative level and such removed. Unlike a cavalier, a glacial rider does not need to mourn for her slain mount and it automatically regain all of it abilities.

At 4th level, the glacial steed's hooves leave fresh ice behind. The glacial steed no longer needs to balance on ice and other slippery surfaces and can move upon them as if it was normal terrain. Likewise a glacial steed can move normally on snow-covered ground, as if it was not difficult terrain. Finally the glacial steed freezes liquids under its hooves, allowing it to walk on water and create a walkable ice path which lasts for 1 round. This ability does not function on very hot liquids, like boiling water.

Hex (Su): A glacial rider gain a hex like a Witch^Pathfinder, the glacial rider uses her cavalier level as her effective witch level and uses her Intelligence modifier to determine the DCs of her hexes. If one of her hex refers to her familiar it applies to her glacial steed instead. If the glacial rider has levels in another hex-granting class she adds her total levels in both classes together to determine the DC and effect of her hexes.

She starts the game with a single hex at 1st level and gains an additional hex at 5th level and each 4 levels thereafter. She can pick her hexes from the following list: Beast of Ill-Omen, Cackle, Evil Eye, Iceplant, Misfortune, Scar and Water Lung.

At 13th level she gains access to the Hoarfrost and Ice Tomb hexes.

Herald of Winter (Ex): A 2nd level glacial rider is always under the effect of endure elements (cold only). At 4th level she gains cold resistance 5, which increases to 10 at level 8th and immunity to cold at level 16th.
