Gravebinder
A gravebinder is a sorcerer with a strong affinity with the undead. The talent of a gravebinder typically manifest in their youth, as they use their powers to raise a pet that passed away or even a relative to their will. The strong connection they are able to make with their minion strengthen them, beyond what is typical for a skeleton or zombie.
Class: Sorcerer
Level: 1st, 20th
Replaces: Bloodline selection, Bloodline Feats (Altered), Bloodline Arcana, Bloodline Power (1st, 20th)
Benefit: A gravebinder gain access to the following class features.
Spellcasting: A gravebinder may restrict her spellcasting much like a specialist wizard. If she does, she choose two opposition school. To learn a spell of an opposition school, she must spend 2 spell known instead of 1. A gravebinder cannot choose necromancy as an opposition school. If she chooses to specialize, the gravebinder gain an extra spell per day of each level she can cast, she may only use that spell slot to cast spells of the necromancy school.
Bloodline: A gravebinder must choose from the Arcane, Ectoplasmic, Possessed or Undead bloodlines. If she chooses Arcane she may only choose spells of the necromancy school with New Arcana and necromancy for School Power. A gravebinder adds Dark Minion, Skeleton Summoner and Thanoptic Spell to her list of bloodline feats.
Necromantic Bond (Su): At 1st level a gravebinder is able to form a strong bond with a corpse or item of necromantic significance. At 1sdt level she chooses between acquiring a deadthrall or a necromantic familiar. Once this choice is made she cannot change it, but she may use the Dual Bond feat to acquire both.
A gravebinder can animate and bind a deadthrall to her will. This behaves much like a corpse companion, as per the undead lord cleric archetype. Unlike a normal corpse companion, a deadthrall zombie or skeleton has a a Charisma of 14 instead of 10. Whenever the gravebinder would gain a sorcerer bonus feat, her corpse companion also gains a bonus feat it meets the prerequisites of.
Alternatively, the gravebinder may choose to gain a haunted doll or the skull of a love one as a familiar, as per the arcane bloodline sorcerer arcane bond. This being follows the rule of a familiar, using a tiny animated object as a base, with the following modification based on its form. The gravebinder's familiar is not otherwise assigned any construction points:
- Doll: Has the cloth and haunted construction flaw, has exceptional reach with all attacks.
- Skull: Has the brittle and haunted construction flaw, has the additional movement (flight) and additional natural attack (bite).
While familiar itself is mindless, the spirits attached are not and thus it behaves as if it was an intelligent creature. While being held by the gravebinder, the familiar also behaves as a bonded object, which may only be used to cast necromancy spells and grants the gravebinder a +1 caster level on any necromancy spells she casts.
This ability replaces the sorcerer’s bloodline arcana and her 1st level bloodline power.
Necropolitan (Ex): A gravebinder gains a bonus equal to half her sorcerer level (minimum +1) on Diplomacy and Knowledge checks regarding undead creatures. Because of her obsessive focus on the undead, he takes a –2 penalty when attempting such checks regarding living creatures.
Prince of Death (Ex): At 20th level, the gravebinder ascends to a powerful necromantic state. She ceases to age, and gains immunity to paralysis and sleep effects. If her corpse companion or familiar is destroyed, she may recreate it as a standard action. The restore minion returns at full health. The gravebinder no longer takes any penalties if her familiar is destroyed.
