Greathide[edit]

This armor is crafted out of the extraordinary thick hides of powerful beasts, with thick layers of fur, leather, or scales arranged in layers and supported by a skeleton of bone or wood. Where traditional hide is more like wearing the skin of a creature, this has been processed into actual armor. It's very heavy, but protective and warm.

Greathide can only be created from the hides of creatures with unusually thick natural armor, at least 8 or above. Skins are layered over each other like a flexible poncho or kilt, with bone structures for support in key areas. Generic greathide is made out of a patchwork of animal parts, but greathide gains a few benefits of crafted out of specific hides, as follows.

Angelhide: Crafted from the skins of Good subtyped creatures, angelhide gives off an aura of good as if you were a good cleric of your level, regardless of actual alignment. When struck by an alignment specific attack (such as smite evil) you have a 50% chance of treating yourself as good aligned for 1 round. You gain a +2 circumstance bonus on Intimidate against Good subtyped creatures, and a -2 Diplomacy penalty.
Price: +900 (masterwork cost included)

Demonhide: Crafted from the skins of Evil subtyped creatures, demonhide gives off an aura of evil as if you were a evil cleric of your level, regardless of actual alignment. When struck by an alignment specific attack (such as smite good) you have a 50% chance of treating yourself as evil aligned for 1 round. You gain a +2 circumstance bonus on Intimidate against Evil subtyped creatures, and a -2 Diplomacy penalty.
Price: +900 (masterwork cost included)

Deadhide: Crafted from the undead, it still retains a faint amount of necromantic energy within. Creatures wearing it gain a +2 circumstance bonus on saves against death attacks, energy drain, and the supernatural abilities of the undead. You take a -2 Diplomacy, Handle Animal, and Wild Empathy penalty as the armor is unsettling.
Price: +1500 (masterwork cost included)

Dragonhide: Whenever a greathide is made of the dragonhide material, they gain energy resistance 5 of the energy type appropriate to the dragon used. Unlike most energy resistance, this stacks with other sources of energy resistance. You gain a +2 circumstance bonus on Intimidate against Dragons, and a -2 Diplomacy penalty.
Price: +1500 (masterwork cost included)

Heavy Fur: Crafted from unusually hairy beasts, the fur is a great protection from cold. You are always under the extraordinary effects of endure elements (cold only) and gain a +2 circumstance bonus on saves against Cold effects.
Price: +600 (masterwork cost included)

Wethide: Crafted from aquatic beasts, the hide proves effective when wet with no loss in quality. You ignore the armor check penalty to swim checks, and gain a +2 circumstance bonus on saves against Water effects.
Price: +600 (masterwork cost included)
