Gutknife

1. See Damage Increases by Size to calculate the damage for a weapon larger than Medium or smaller than Small.
2. Weight figures are for Medium weapons. A Small weapon weighs half as much, and a Large weapon weighs twice as much.
3. When two types are given, the weapon is both types if the entry specifies "and", either type (player's choice at time of attack) if the entry specifies "or", or each end of the double weapon is a different type if the entry specifies "/".
4. The hp value given is for Medium armor, weapons, and shields. Divide by 2 for each size category of the item smaller than Medium, or multiply it by 2 for each size category larger than Medium.


This cruel weapon is a dagger covered in gnarled and twisted iron spikes, hooks, and other impractical looking ridges. Designed for stabbing thrusts, its true strength likes in its hilt with a guarded spiked grip and base. This allows the user to have a firm grip which to hook and drag pieces of the victim's clothing, or the victims flesh, grappling it with its many hooks. Deep wounds can have the blade become stuck, and removal is a violent and often life threatening process. Many an intestine has found itself on the outside thanks to the aptly named blade.

You benefit from improved grab when using the gutknife, allowing you to grapple opponents without provoking attacks of opportunity. Whenever you maintain your hold on the grapple you deal the damage from using the gutknife.

When you score a critical hit, or when you succeed on a pin, the gutknife plunges deep into its target and cannot be removed except by a Strength check equal to 10 + your Strength modifier as an attack action. Alternatively it can be removed in 1 standard by a Heal check of the same DC. Regardless, the gutknife deals an automatic critical hit (do not add Strength bonus, but weapon enhancements apply) and also 1d6 points of Constitution damage as their guts spill forth. The damage can be avoided by removing the gutknife over the course of 3 rounds.

The gutknife gains a +4 bonus against being disarmed thanks to its grip, and a +2 bonus on disarming and trip attacks made with the weapon.
