This unique bright red +1 Wounding Urukke Steel Battle Shotgun was made by an artificer with a sense of humor.
When it is used to fire Buckshot or Dragonbreath, the heartstriker fires in a heart-shaped blast. This unusual blast keep it shape unlike a standard spread, they do not suffer from the Battle Shotgun increase range penalty and inability to inflict critical hit after a certain range.
When it is used to fire Slugs the heartsriker's shot actually seek the heart of a target. On a natural 20 the heartstriker inflict bleedout on the struck creature, this apply even if the critical hit is not confirmed. This only apply to a creature with an actual heart.
The Heartstriker is a unique item that cannot be replicated, but is not an artifact and thus may be destroyed or enhanced further as normal.
