Holy Tools[edit]
Holy tools are a grouping of magic items which are object that were blessed by strong divine magic, but otherwise lacks powers of their own. Instead these relic relies on the inner power of the user. Holy tools behaves much like spell-trigger items, the user must fully meet the prerequisite to use it. The save DC of a holy tool is 10 + 1/2 hit dice of the user and the user's key casting ability modifier, or Charisma if the user is not a caster, unless specified otherwise.
Holy tools follow the following rules:
- Activating a holy tool require at least 1 rank in Knowledge (Religion), with some items having a higher rank requirement or additional requirement.
- Holy tools only radiate an aura of good, and no aura associated with any school of magic.
- To activate an holy tool, the user must expend 5 hit points worth of lay on hand or one use of turn undead as a cleric of a good-aligned deity (3.5e).
- To activate an holy tool, a single use of lay on hand or channel energy as a cleric of a good-aligned deity (pathfinder).
Unless specified otherwise, activating a holy tool is a standard action.
