Idar, the Doom Scholar[edit]
The lost soul of a tragic hero who disappeared in the crisis that shook Cimmeria.
Level: 8th
Binding DC: 30
Special Requirement:
Legend[edit]
Idar Grimorich was a binder from Cimmeria and an hero. He vanished while destroying the Ancient Being from the Stars. He was with his companions: Judas Gentle Heart, Adrianus the Shaman and the mysterious Nyenna of Cabir, and even they didn't seem to know what happened to him and its dog companion, Rasputin. When they used the Eternal Mirror on the Being, a banishing energy exploded outward: while the others were transported away by their patrons, he had not such a bond, ironically for a binder, and no one and nothing came to save him. Thus he disappeared, never to be seen or heard again.
Despite this, he left behind a son that he had with the witch Mafalda Crooked Eye and a sign, which was later discovered by binders near the place of his disappearence (the cimmerian capital), through which he can be summoned and bound.
He was a karsite[1] so he improves binding capacities as well as giving the ability to summon a spectral dog and to dispel the supernatural.
Special summoning[edit]
Manifestation[edit]
For a moment nothing seems to happen. Then, after you blink, a man appears before you. He is dressed in a scholar's robe and a large sword hangs over his shoulders. You can't see its face though, as it seems veiled by a piece of the night sky. Tentacles whrite behind the man, ready to snatch him away.
Sign[edit]
Something like a suffused halo appears on your head. It's black but stars adorne it.
Influence[edit]
Granted Abilities[edit]
Bane of the Supernatural[edit]
Once per round you may dispel a supernatural ability. You may do so either using a standard action (usually for effects already in place) or an immediate one (in response to an enemy's supernatural ability). You do a check (1d20 + effective binder level + you Charisma modifier) against a caster level check (or 1d20 + Challenge Rating, if there's no caster level): in the case you succeed, you dispel the effect as if you would dispel magic. You must wait 5 rounds before using this ability again. The dispel check benefits from the Grand Binder ability.
Grand Binder[edit]
All your vestige powers' DCs increase by 2, your effective binder level increases by 2 to determine the potency of your vestige powers and the cooldown between uses of vestige abilities is lowered by 2. This is valid for all your bound vestige and even for this vestige.
Rasputin's Whistle[edit]
As a full-round action you may summon a spectral, large dog. Use the dire wolf statistics, except as it follows: the dog is ethereal, with all the benefits of a manifested ghost for this aspect, and may strike ethereal enemies normally, it has your hit points, base attack bonus, saves and skill points if better than its own, it has the pseudonatural[2] template, Dexterity 25 and adds your Charisma modifier as deviation bonus to its AC. You may choose the dog as the origin (or self target) of any of your vestige ability, though if the ability has a cooldown both of you must wait before using it again. It lasts one minute and may be summoned up to three times per day, with a 5 rounds cooldown between the moment it disappears and the next summoning.
Supernatural Confidence[edit]
You add your Charisma modifier to your Will saves and to Knowledge checks.
