Kaiton, Ethereal Trickster[edit]
Tales speak of an arrogant trickster fox who, for making a fool of a God, was utterly destroyed, yet his unresting spirit still torments the God's realm.
Level: 4th
Binding DC: 21
Special Requirement: Yes
Legend[edit]
It is said that Kaiton was from a race of magical foxes rival to the kitsunes; the three-tailed fox was an arrogant prince of his people. When the Gods visited the realm, Kaiton managed to trick a God into making a fool of itself. The God, fuming in anger after being humiliated by such a lowly being, destroyed Kaiton on the spot. However, for reasons unknown, the fox survived as a vestige. It is said Kaiton himself was tricked into tricking the God by a kitsune, and so he holds an incredible grudge against them.
Special summoning[edit]
Kaiton the Ethereal Trickster can only be summoned in natural terrain with tall grass. Additionally, the Binder may attempt to answer one of its riddle; if she does (DC 16 intelligence check), she automatically make a good pact with Kaiton. If she fails, the binding DC of Kaiton increases by +5, as it is displeased. Kaiton will not make pacts with any kitsune.
Manifestation[edit]
The tall grass seems to become disturbed and moves in an erratic fashion; finally, it settles and Kaiton appears as a three-tailed yellow and black fox.
Sign[edit]
You eyes are slammed shut and essentially become a thin black line; this does not hamper your vision in any way.
Influence[edit]
You become a trickster, enjoying playing harmless or harmful (based on your alignment) tricks on people. Additionally, you want to answer any riddle you hear and bear great hatred toward kitsunes.
Granted Abilities[edit]
Animate Grass[edit]
You can use animate plants as a supernatural ability; however, it is limited to the entangle version only, lasts for 1 round/level, and you cannot animate large or larger plants. Once you have used this ability, you cannot use it again for 5 rounds after its duration expired.
Cannot be Fooled[edit]
You always see through magical disguises as if you were under the effect of true seeing (but no other illusions). You also gain a +10 bonus on Spot checks for the purpose of beating disguises.
Inherent Trickster[edit]
While you are bound with Kaiton, you gain the benefits of the expert manipulator feat if you meet its prerequisites. If you already possess the feat, you gain a +2 bonus on Bluff and Diplomacy checks.
Speak with Foxes[edit]
You are constantly under the effect of speak with animals (foxes only).
Vanish into the Aether[edit]
You can use ethereal jaunt as a swift action; however, it only lasts until the end of your turn and you cannot attack while under this effect. Once you have used this ability, you cannot use it again for 5 rounds.
