The rogue should be dead, but the soft pulse of life remained pinging within him as a dull green pulse of light.
Those under the effects of this spell are warded from death. If you are brought to death by hp damage, ability damage and drain, negative levels, and similar sources. You remain unconscious but do not die until the spell duration ends, and you automatically stabilize if dying. If you are healed to the point where you will be alive at the end of the duration, you do not die. If subject to a [Death] effect you can discharge this spell, ending it but negating the [Death] effect and rendering you dazed for 1 round from shock. You still die if you are dismembered or otherwise mauled beyond the abilities of raise dead.
The spell produces an obvious pulsing light when active which can be targeted as a coup de grace to stop life support and end the spell.
