You were certain of it. Though the psion was still there, you were facing the late legendary hero themselves!

You reach out and invite the ego of another into your form. For the duration you effectively become that creature in all except body, though those who observe you now view you in a way which seems to confuse you with the creature you are mantling. You can mantle any willing creature you know, even one who has already perished. During this transformation your own abilities are suppressed and you use the ability scores, AC, BAB, skills, saves, class features, spells and powers, feats, supernatural abilities, and other abilities of the mantled creature as they currently are (or as they last were, if they are dead). You keep your size and shape, and other gross physical features and thus cannot use any abilities based on the mantled creature's body (so you would not be able to use a tail attack if you lack a tail). You also retain your own hp, and your own equipment. If afflicted by a mind-affecting effect, it is suppressed for the duration of this power.

If the mantled creature is alive, they are aware that you are mantling them and may resist with a Will save. Any limited use abilities draw from the same pool.

During this time you are normally in control. You may cede control to the mantled creature or resume as a non-action, allowing them to speak in your stead. In this method you may communicate with a dead ally.

You may mantle a creature with higher HD than yourself, but if you do you lose the ability to control yourself and are subject to the whims of the creature you are mantling until the duration expires. Fortunately you cannot benefit from mantle ego while under its effects, so they cannot reassert their control even if they know the power.

Augment: For every 2 power points you spend, your effective HD for maintaining control rises by +1.
