The shroud that covers Pale Night is to protect reality against her true form. For you, it protects you from reality.
As long as you know this ability, you receive a deflection bonus to AC equal to 1/4 of your character level (rounding down, minimum +1) and a resistance bonus to all saves equal to 1/3 of your character level (rounding down, minimum +1).
