This spell conjures a ghostly sword hovering above you shortly before flying into a direction of your choice. All opponents in the area take 1d6 damage per caster level (maximum of 15d6), which is either piercing or slashing damage. The damage from this spell counts as magical for the purpose of bypassing damage reduction and fully affecting incorporeal opponents. A successful Reflex save negates the damage.
You may target a particular creature when you cast this spell, making a ranged touch attack against one creature in the line. If you succeed, the target takes an additional 2d6 damage and takes half damage on a successful Reflex save. If the ranged touch attack misses, the target automatically succeeds on its Reflex save.
