Palace of the Vampire Queen was written by Pete and Judy Kerestan, with art by Morno, and was published as 15 sheets and an outer folder. Wee Warriors published a second edition in 1976 that consisted of 12 sheets, and a third edition in 1977 as a 12-page digest-sized book with 10 center-bound maps.
In 1976, TSR picked Wee Warriors up for exclusive distribution, making Palace of the Vampire Queen one of the first four Wee Warriors products to be widely sold in this manner.:28 Palace of the Vampire Queen was the first standalone role-playing game adventure, which was published before TSR's Lost Caverns of Tsojcanth.:152
