Grown from psionic creatures, this grape-sized cluster of nerve bundles infused with tiny psionic crystals is inserted into the brain of a living creature. Two days after a successful implantation, the creature gains telepathy with a range of 10 feet per HD it possesses. The creature can telepathically communicate with another creature bearing this implant at a distance of one mile per HD.
The implantation process causes mild disruption of the brain's neural pathways, resulting in occasional difficulty with long-term memory recall. The implanted creature takes a -1 inherent penalty to all Intelligence based skill checks. Creatures with the psionic subtype do not take this penalty, as their brains are already accustomed to handling psionic energy. A Rhine Organelle functions only when applied to living creatures; if applied to a non-living creature it rots away over the course of 2d4 days.
