Saintclair of the Manifold Curses[edit]
A person so cursed by vestiges and personal misfortune, she became that which she most hated.
Level: 1st (see below)
Binding DC: 18
Special Requirement: Cannot willingly fail the influence check, and must have previously either bound any other vestige or been cursed.
Special: Saintclair can be bound as any level of vestige by lengthening her Binding. If bound as a level higher than 1, some of her abilities may change, as described in their description. You cannot use Improved Binding to bind Saintclair of the Manifold Curses at a higher level.
Legend[edit]
Polly Saintclair was a young woman who - through no actions of her own - was beset with a large number of curses. For the most part, these were no more than troubling to her, but she still sought out wise and powerful sages to help cure her ills. Most were unwilling or unable to help, but she found a clever and inventive wizard who sought to approach the issue in less conventional manners.
For a time, the wizard was successful and Polly found her problems fading away. Then she found she stopped forgetting things. Then she grew needles from under her nails. She grew horns, her skin grew pitted, and more and more dire changes were made to her against her will.
She found herself losing control over her actions, but with these changes came (completely undesired) power. More and more vestiges bound themselves to her as the wizard tried more and more esoteric cures.
Eventually, a solution was found that dealt with Polly's little problem with serial possession, but by then it was too late. Each of the vestiges that had bound themselves to her took a piece of her soul with it.
Special Summoning[edit]
You must insult a vestige. Any vestige works, including Saintclair. For every level above first, you must curse an additional vestige, and the binding takes an additional minute.
Manifestation[edit]
You become aware of a young woman curled up at your feet. You have the distinct impression she's been there the whole time. Signs of different vestiges quickly appear and disappear on her.
Sign[edit]
The signs from all your other vestiges become more pronounced. How this actually manifests should be decided between the player and the DM, but usually won't have any mechanical effect.
Influence[edit]
You become more vastly more concerned with maintaining your own state of mind. You may not willingly fail any Binding checks or Will saves for Mind Affecting effects.
Additionally, due to the effects of one of Saintclair's curses, you must always display signs from all bound vestiges.
Granted Abilities[edit]
Vestige of Vestiges[edit]
Saintclair is bound to all sorts of Vestiges. You can call upon an at-will ability with no cooldown of any Vestige at least one level lower than you have bound Saintclair of the Manifold Curses once every 5 rounds.
Additionally, once per binding, you may call upon the ability of a Vestige of the same level as you have bound Saintclair or an ability that has a cooldown of no longer than 1 minute. If you do, Vestige of Vestiges cannot be used for 1 hour.
Curse Magnet[edit]
As a standard action, you can touch a creature and move a curse on them to you. This removes the curse from them, and places it on you with the same duration remaining as when they had it. When Saintclair becomes unbound, the curses no longer affect you, and all further checks to bind Saintclair get a -1 penalty that stacks with itself as you add yet more curses onto her.
Additionally, as a free action you can place a curse on a creature within close range. The cursed creature takes a -2 penalty on attack rolls, ability and skill checks, and saving throws. If a creature dies while cursed, all further checks to bind Saintclair get a +1 bonus that stacks with itself as you remove some of her many, many curses. You may only have a single creature cursed at any time. Once you use this ability, you may not use it again for 5 rounds.
The Ghosts That Haunt Me[edit]
If you are mind controlled for a duration longer than 1 round (through suggestion, geas, domination, mind rape or even under the effect of magic jar) Saintclair's desire for freedom kicks in, you fall under the effect of hostile schism for the duration of the mind control. Unlike a normal hostile schism you are in full control of the alternate personality (free of the effect of the possession) allowing you to hinder your mind controlled body and whoever is controlling you.
Soulmelding[edit]
If you are Soulbound to Saintclair of the Manifold Curses, and you have Intense Soulbound, Saintclair counts as being bound at a level one below the highest you can Soulbind (so if you have Intense Soulbound 3 times and can be Soulbound to a level 4 Vestige, Saintclair would be bound at level 3).
