The psionic lightblade is a rare weapon forged by psionic users of the way of monopsychism, believers in "the Askastic Force". The psionic lightblade acts as a catalyst for the user's own life energy, projecting it into a longsword-like blade of colored energy of appropriate color to the user's own aura. Typically users of law and good take green hues, while those of chaos and evil take on red shades. The weapon itself contains its own small supply of energy, but only an Askastic Knight can unlock its full potential.
For most users, the psionic lightblade acts as an exotic ''masterwork longsword'' that deals 1d6 force damage with a 20/x2 critical. Do not add additional damage from an ability score like [[strength]]. Attacks made with the weapon are touch attacks. It counts as both a light weapon and a one-handed weapon whenever beneficial. Psionic lightblades are difficult for those without power points or psionic abilities to wield. They are considered an exotic weapon, but any attack roll of a natural 1 ends up scoring a hit on the user if they are not proficient. Having access to at least 1 power point or having [[SRD:Exotic Weapon Proficiency|Exotic Weapon Proficiency]] in this weapon reduces the attack roll penalty to -2, and removes any chance of the user injuring themselves with it. If both are true (that is, the the wielder is proficient and has power points), no attack roll penalty applies.
The psionic lightblade has +2 on sunder checks. Psionic lightblades sear the flesh it cuts through, and any creature felled by a psionic lightblade is automatically stabilized and not bleeding out. It counts as the appropriate damage type to prevent regeneration of limbs (but not dealing lethal damage to creatures with regeneration). In addition the Vorpal enhancement only costs +4 instead of +5.
