*Everything that wouldn't make sense in D&D does make sense this way (dungeons having progressively harder monsters, random treasure piles, etc.). It is all governed in the overly complex and strange rules of the game.
*The PCs are basically pieces in this game (owned by some immortal)

*Hits are automatic 20% of the time (17-20) instead of 5%. This does not apply to confirm critical hits. Maybe have them do 1/2 damage. Basically this variant rule would make lower CR monsters more significant at higher levels because they can still hit you. Hordes of monsters are an actual threat. An army of archers will actually kill your fighter. Etc. etc.
