The damage on this spell is really strange. You've got a mix of d8s and d6s. You can score a critical hit with it, but not deliver precision damage. Using it above water is an act of desperation as well for a limited daily use ability that affects a single target at Close range. Not really sure what suggestions to make other than switching to one kind of damage dice and allowing for precision damage since it's already a Close range spell anyway (and most of that range is going to line up with the typical 30' of Sneak Attack at range). If you're worried about spells n'sneak attack, it is a 3rd level spell, and that would be a rather high amount of commitment to that sort of build to pull off something like that. Anyway, carry on. --Ganteka Future (talk) 08:44, 24 September 2017 (MDT)
:Thanks for the critique Gan. I think this spell design suffered from "I want it to work just like the actual Mantis Shrimp attack" and tried to be too faithful to the source material while sacrificing simplicity and, in hindsight, desirability. Hopefully the changes I've made make the spell a more competitive choice for high-level play. Let me know what you think. -Spanambula (talk) 01:49, 25 September 2017 (MDT)
