{{underbar|Holy crap, that's a lot of spells!|As a full spellcasting class which does not automatically know all of its spells, but instead is required to learn them like a wizard or wu jen, the Viewtiful Monarch's spell list is intentionally large. That isn't to say that there are no rules on what a Viewtiful Monarch's spells can or cannot be, though. On the contrary, there is a very broad, but very important guiding principle. The Viewtiful Monarch is '''viewtiful''', which means that her adventures have to be the sort of thing that would make for excellent sentai show material. (You know, Kamen Rider, Power Rangers, that sort of stuff.) The primary requirement for a spell to be on this list is to be very flashy and impressive — either directly (such as a ''fireball'') or through what they empower (or disempower) the subject to do (such as the ability-score-enhancing spells). Spells whose effects are subtle, or which take a long time to be felt (whether through very long casting times or a long delay after casting is completed), are not allowed on the list unless they are basic magical tasks (such as ''read magic'') or aid the Viewtiful Monarch in casting other spells (such as ''triadspell'' and ''spell flower'').
Conjuration, evocation, and illusion are the best-represented schools on the Viewtiful Monarch spell list. Transmutation is a close second, necromancy and enchantment are somewhat close thirds, and abjurations are rather scarce. Viewtiful Monarch spells are very direct; they do not set up booby traps (which means no ''symbol'' spells; ''power words'' are fine, though), and they generally do not act slowly. Also, spells with extreme religious components (including spells whose alignment descriptors greatly inform their effects) or which involve making or manipulating undead are not on the list, and healing spells are for the most part limited to the non-mass ''cure'' family (which means no ''raise dead'', ''heal'', or other such shenanigans, and their harmful counterparts, such as ''harm'', are also not allowed). I also tried to exclude spells that are heavily reliant on class features that the Viewtiful Monarch (and [[Viewtiful Warrior (3.5e Class)|Viewtiful Warrior]]) don't have, such as sneak attack, turning undead, familiars, animal companions, special mounts, favored enemies, and bardic music. Other than that, spells from all three major core spellcasting lists (wizard/sorcerer, cleric, and druid) are represented. There are a lot of very useful and cool spells that are ''not'' on the list, so don't get the idea that this is a "most awesome spells in the game" list; it's more along the lines of "most awesome-''looking'' spells in the game", and that's from an in-universe perspective . (in In other words, your average NPC watching a Viewtiful Monarch in action would need to pick his jaws up off the floor afterwards. Maybe literally.)}}
