As the name implies, a heavy whip is a reinforced whip made for combat. A heavy whip can damage creature with an armor bonus of +1 or higher or a natural armor bonus of +3 or higher. Like using a whip, using a heavy whip provokes an attack of opportunity, just as if you had used a ranged weapon. A heavy whip can deal lethal or non-lethal at the wielder's option.
A heavy whip count as a [[SRD:Whip|whip]] for the purpose of feats and ability. A class that is proficient with the [[SRD:Whip|whip]] is also proficient with the heavy whip.</onlyinclude>
