Spice Case[edit]
A clamshell metal case with multiple compartments for herbs, spices, and shakers. It comes with a simple mortar and pestle built in to make spices on the go. Between whatever you harvest from the outside and simple trips to the nearest civilization a spice case generally does not run out of supply. The spice case is helpful in cooking, and is effectively a masterwork skill tool for Craft Alchemy and Craft Cooking.
2/day certain blends of spices can be drawn from it to produce any of the following effects.
- Preservation: You can make up to 1 meal be wrapped up in preservative marinade and salts that will extend its freshness for up to 1 month.
- Obscure Aroma: This increases any checks made to determine a flavor or scent, masking its actual contents, by +4. For example, one can attempt to poison dinner with an ingested poison and hide the existence of something unusual.
- Repel Fauna and Vermin: Spicy extracts and unpalatable herbs can mark out up to 10 square feet (or a 40 ft line) which keeps most non-sapient animals and vermin at bay. A determined or forced creature can attempt to cross the barrier with a DC 15 Will save.
