Squalid Ambrosia[edit]

Squalid ambrosia is a truly foul brew said to have originally been created by a goddess of disease and decay, her lifeblood and ichor distilled for her warped creations to suckle upon. The substance known as squalid ambrosia one sees today is but a pale imitation to the fetid ruination that was the original, and yet it is so foul and disgusting one must wonder how terrifying the true ambrosia was. It is technically an ingested poison, but it is rarely used as such as its potency is so great that it is almost impossible to hide its true purpose. Instead, it is used in various foul rituals, where its toxic existence pleases deities of decay.

The exact method of creating squalid ambrosia is mysterious and it is said to be created several different ways, including squeezing the juices of a decayed and entombed child's corpse, or mashing up an egg buried in the ground for 100 years, and other such disgusting recipes. The thick sludge which is produced is black and smells terribly. Creatures within 30 feet of it must make a DC 20 Fortitude save or be sickened for as long as they remain in the area and 1d4 rounds after. Creatures within 5 ft must save against nausea instead for the same duration. This poison bypasses all immunity to poisons, and the smell bypasses sickened and nausea immunity.

Nothing short of magical effects (typically illusions) of 7th level or higher can suppress the smell, and only for a maximum of 24 hours. Even if the smell is suppressed, the taste is never suppressed, and any creature ingesting it immediately knows what is going on. They must make a DC 20 Fortitude save to resist vomiting up the contents (and most willingly fail this save), which renders them nauseated for 1 round. Those that successfully ingest it are immediately hit with the effects.

If poured on the ground, a 5 ft area of earth is cursed. This stained land can never again support any life. Only by digging up and replacing the entire part of the cursed land can one bring back life to the area, and the corrupted earth must be melted down and hit with a bless spell or holy water to remove its ichor.

Consuming squalid ambrosia is a requirement to take maneuvers from the Blighted Serpent discipline, if they don't already possess a poison themselves.

Type: Ingestion DC 20
Initial Effect: 1d10 Con burn and nauseated for 1 minute. Con burn cannot be restored with magic, it must be healed naturally.
Secondary Effect: 1d10 Con burn. If the creature dies from the Con loss, they immediately melt into a foul puddle that stains the land in the creature's former square (as above).
Price: 500 gp
