Free bonus feat for martial characters, psionic characters, non-face characters, and so-forth? I would add strenuous activity to this, whether it be making an attack (as a standard action), full attack (once per full attack), charge, manifesting of a psionic power, and the like. |
Nah, I figured I made it pretty harsh as is. Besides being inspired by my current illness, I was thinking of the Mute flaw and thought this was a nice way to do it better. It's not complete muteness, but probably actually worse since you'll try to speak at some point even if you're not the party face, because you need to answer the king, you need to activate the command word on your magic item, or just to scream "look out" before the cleric gets crushed by rocks. So, even though some classes have less penalty out of it than others (those who don't use vocal components), everyone needs to speak at some point. inb4 Shaky flaw on melee builds, Murky Eyes on breath weapon builds, etc... -- Eiji-kun (talk) 23:38, 20 June 2015 (UTC)
- Sign language makes talking a non-issue. --Fluffykittens (talk) 04:53, 21 June 2015 (UTC)
- Are there games where everyone takes drow sign language? I figure it's not exactly common. Nor translatable via tongues. -- 05:14, 21 June 2015 (UTC)
- This has no impact on the quiet fighter that stands at the back, and on the rare occasions they need to speak, there's still only a 15% chance of this flaw interferring. 77.98.213.151 11:34, 25 November 2015 (UTC)
- Most fighters, manifesters, and the like, this still does nothing to whatsoever. --Ghostwheel (talk) 15:46, 25 November 2015 (UTC)
- Most UA flaws hit either a primary defense (AC/saving throw), or a primary attack. One of these often comes up. This rarely does except in EXTREMELY specialized circumstances. --Ghostwheel (talk) 16:06, 25 November 2015 (UTC)
- I would agree with 5% chance and having it occur when you did a strenuous action (basically any standard action that wasn't to pull something out... or get up or something). --Ghostwheel (talk) 16:50, 25 November 2015 (UTC)
- Also, persistent coughing means something's not quite right with your respiratory system, am I right? Perhaps in addition to the potential for your actions to be ruined, having this flaw makes you suffocate/drown 1 round sooner than others. There are a number of ways to do this, like raising DCs or lowering effective Constitution, but the point is, having this flaw makes you easy to strangle. (There are ways around this drawback — it's entirely possible to be immune to suffocation/drowning — but that wouldn't be the main effect of the flaw to begin with, just a little extra twist of the knife.) --Luigifan18 (talk) 20:08, 25 November 2015 (UTC)
(RESET INDENT) The reason I didn't go for 5% all the time is rolling concerns; I didn't want to burden the player with rolling all the time forever. I figured; fatigue and exhaustion are semi-common status effects, and making them worse seemed reasonable. Plus, it is a favorite way to handle melee types anyway.
Do you have a different way to affect melee that doesn't require a check each round? Otherwise, combat will get annoying. -- Eiji-kun (talk) 01:33, 26 November 2015 (UTC)
- How about taking a move action to move more than half their speed? This can be x2 a turn if they take a double move. I think that would also be fine. --Ghostwheel (talk) 15:40, 26 November 2015 (UTC)
- Also, I imagine this would be utter hell for stealth builds. --Luigifan18 (talk) 22:43, 24 November 2017 (MST)
