I am pretty in line with the Leziad's idea of alterative Jian. This weapons sums the characteristics of a Longsword and a Rapier. So a further considerations are needed: with an extra cost (at least 200 gp, I say) this sword, thanks to it's elaborate structure, has a wonderful balance that allows a wielder without the Exotic Weapon Proficiency to use it as martial weapon, both as a longsword or a rapier; in that case, at the beginning of each round the wielder have to declare whether he wants to use the Jian, alternative as a longsword or as a rapier. The same logic can be applied to different jind of weapons: for example, an extension of the Beltarfirt's Reitschwert can be a weapon usable without penalty from horseback, allowing Weapon Finesse and that can be treated by a wielder without the Exotic Weapon Proficiency either with a Bastard Sword or, basically, as a Beltarfit's Striscia. The price of this powered Reitschwert must be at leat 300 gp, I say! This logic can be extended to other "hybrid" weapon of this kind.

Mmm. This project of Jian is basically an Elven Thinblade that can be used as a longsword. If an elven thinblade, whose sructure is by far more complex than a Jian and a longsword in general (think about its elaborated hand-guard) cannot be used as a longsword, I don't see any reason why a Jian can be used as a longsword. your Jian can be consider a finesse longsword recquiring the Exotic Weapon Proficiency feat, like a Fencing Cutlass/Sabre and the Cut and Thrust Sword form our twin website, https://www.dandwiki.com/, which must be considered a complementary website in cases like these. Onother thing: since you Jian shares many charachteristcics with rapier as well (It's also Piercing, Finessable one-handed etc.), why not to count a Jian as Longsword or a Rapier for the purpose of feat such as Weapon Focus and class features, just like a Cut and Thrust Sword? We have to, my friend.
