A fun feat for winged characters.

Many Things

First: Why does this feat require you to have a fly speed if it replaces the fly speed with a completely new one?

Second: Rouge is not a class or balance point. This should probably be Wizard (Very High), too.

Third: If your wings take on an ethereal appearance, they don't look the same, now do they? --Foxwarrior 00:10, 26 May 2012 (UTC)

Can not defend the second or third point, but the first should be a "no shit" for anyone. It doubles your current fly speed. Double of nothing is still nothing, thus you need a fly speed that can be doubled.
EDIT- this assumes the base speed refered to is the base fly speed.--Change=Chaos. Period. SC 03:54, 26 May 2012 (UTC)
False. By RAW, base speed refers to your land speed, therefore you do not need a previous fly speed. - TG Cid 05:30, 26 May 2012 (UTC)
Fast(er) flight speed, perfect maneuverability, and 20% ranged attack missing are pretty hardcore for a feat that's potentially available at level 1. So I'm going to second Fox's call for a higher balance point (here's a reference feat at Very High - Wings of Evil (3.5e Feat)), but also suggest that some additional limiters be placed on it. I'd consider splitting it up into a feat chain, drop one of the benefits, or putting a character level 9/11 prerequisite on it. - Tarkisflux Talk 21:46, 28 May 2012 (UTC)
Ok, I made a few changes. First, this requires you to have the ability to fly in the first place. It only doubles your speed if it is equal to your base land speed. It requires you to have 5 HD. And the Entropic Shield effect now only lasts 1 hour/2 HD, 1/day.
Improved Flight is a perfectly tolerable feat at High-level, especially if you remember to follow the maneuverability rules in the first place. Maybe a bit on the lower end, I guess. Putting Entropic Shield on a 1/day timer with a full-round activation just means that you don't always get it when you're ambushed, or when playing with those weird DMs who remember to keep people fighting several battles per day, over the course of many hours.
On another topic, you have illustrated one of the perfect situations for a scaling feat, Tarkisflux, when you say "split it up into a feat chain or put a character level prerequisite on it": you imply that both options would be balanced, but the character who waits for the character level version will be stronger after that time. --Foxwarrior 20:45, 14 June 2012 (UTC)
Ok, I made this feat scale with your HD. That should make it a bit better. Alcyius 14:41, 15 June 2012 (UTC)
