Talk:Spell Macgyver (3.5e Feat)
From Dungeons and Dragons Wiki
Maybe a bad example[edit]
While I see this feat has a use (replacing your diamond dust in place of say raw gold or pokemon trading cards), your example doesn't really work since guano and the other components are free, and thus are products of the spell component pouch which already has everything you need in it. Thus, no need to replace one thing for another.
Also, the spontaneous thing doesn't actually work for prepared casters if I'm reading this correctly, as you would be like... casting Stoneskin in 4th, but need to expend a 5th which you might not have available. Does this leave your 4th level Stoneskin casting alone, or is that expended in conjunction with a random 5th slot? -- Eiji-kun (talk) 03:33, 6 December 2016 (UTC)
- I understand what you are saying and I did not think about the issue of the higher level spell slot, while discarding a random higher level spell would probably be the best course of action for a prepared caster; and the example was just that, a example, while the used example may be free items it gives the player a excuse to be more creative with how they go about casting the spell, the example though could have used a better spell component to better explain. --Furhammer (talk)
- I can work on the wording for you if you want, but I'd need to ask which way you'll go with the mechanics concerning the spell slot. My recommendation: Just keep it as is. Prepared casters prepare it as normal, spontanteous still spontanteously does things. Should be good enough. -- Eiji-kun (talk) 05:53, 6 December 2016 (UTC)
