Breaking the RNG and playing against fundamental rules of the game isn't balanced out by telling the DM it's okay to make up stuff that keeps them from doing that - that's just an admission that the abilities you gave the class aren't appropriate.

The idea of willingly swearing subservience to another character is refreshing, but the DM Note in italics and the numerically extreme but otherwise fairly uninspired class features are unpleasant.
