The Adventurer: Tim the Cowardly Monk[edit]

There is a man who has travelled more miles than the most experience horse. A man who has seen more sights than the most enthusiastic of mercenaries. A man that has survived more battles than the most battle hardened veterans. He is a monk named Tim.
—Slightly Younger Than Old Man Kira Mike
Tim is a god damn coward. I'd kill him for his cowardice, but I can't bloody catch him.
—Old Man Kira

Tim the Cowardly Monk has made a living on being a coward. In fact, he has perfected it to a degree that many consider his cowardice supernatural. Tim once dedicated himself to learning how to become a monk and through his training he learnt how best to defend himself against any enemies that want to see him dead. Many people know who Tim is and many people have heard him spin his tales; he tells tales more famously than a bard does and he knows many things that people would consider to be obscure knowledge. How does he know these things? Because he's been there, he's seen it and he's run away from it.

All Shapes and Sizes: Tim trained as a monk at a monastery. Unfortunately for Tim, who joined up to learn some sweet techniques to defend himself against bigger foes, it turned out that he'd joined a monastery of monks who sit around most of the day and contemplate life, the universe and everything else. There was no fighting involved. There he learnt how to focus his mind, keep his body healthy and move quickly. The latter was learnt more out of an instinct of being absolutely nervous of anything moving in the dark corners of the monastery rooms. Unfortunately, the monastery didn't offer a very diverse learning opportunity either, which meant Tim wasn't the most learned of fellows. Tim choose to use his Good Points in Fortitude and Reflex, improving an Average Point to Good for his Will save, while demoting the other Average to Poor and assigning Poor to all other attributes.

This One Time... (Ex): At the monastery, Tim was the most interesting of people because he knew and would recite a fair few tales of heroes and heroines. His constant recitations granted Tim a +2 competence bonus to Perform(Ortary) at first level and because of this, Tim would spin his tales later of the things he had seen to everyone who would listen to his fabulous tales, in such gaining a further +1 competence bonus to Perform(Ortary) at every odd level.

Cowardice: Tim earned his moniker due to his excessive cowardice and fear of almost anything. Many of Tim's abilities rely on a 'Cowardice check'. To make a Cowardice Check, roll 1d20 + Tim's level - any modifiers to fear effects Tim has. If Tim would be made immune to fear by any ability or spell, he instead gains a +4 bonus vs fear.

Allergic to Pain (Ex): Tim is self-defined as 'allergic to pain'. Which just means he really doesn't like getting hit. Whenever Tim is attacked, he may attempt to make a Cowardice roll versus the attack roll. If he succeeds, Tim gains a morale bonus to his armour class equal to his speed divided by 10 until his next turn. However, if Tim ever takes damage in combat, he panics and becomes Shaken. If he is already Shaken or under any other fear effect, he instead moves to the next level of fear.
