Right now this is just gonna be a bunch of notes. If you somehow stumbled across this page, feel free to tell me what you think on the talk page.
Ideas for powder guns:
- Going to make a 3.5 ruleset for sure. I wonder if they'd work well in 5e, or if someone else hasn't done that already yet.
- Handheld firearms are pretty easy to use. I'm thinking about saying there's no penalty on attack rolls for not being proficient with them. Maybe there's a chance of a misfire if you're not proficient.
- Firearms should deal different amounts of damage based on size. Bigger size means bigger barrel, bigger barrel means more powder.
- Firearms hit flat-footed AC. It's hard to dodge a gunshot.
- I wanna have an option for hip-firing and sight-firing. Hip-firing is less accurate, but it lets you treat it like a melee weapon for attacks of opportunity (don't provoke for using, be provoked by others)
- Tracking ammunition is something I've seen a lot of players not bother to do. I want to see if there's a way to make ammunition cheap like arrows but still have them balanced.
- Reloading a firearm chamber should be two tasks - cleaning the chamber and loading the next batch of powder in.
- Blunderbusses that shoot out Glitterdusts would be cool.
Ideas for bullet-using guns:
- Don't think anything other than revolver sorts of guns should be made here. Maybe that's the exotic version of a gun?
