This template is strictly for increasing a size category. This represents the natural possibility of gigantism in the races. Naturally, there are some restrictions involved, but only inasmuch as size itself is an issue.
Note:
This template is not related to the giant creature type. A creature with this template is the same as every other member of its race, save for the obvious feature changes.

Great Creature Template[edit]
A Great creature is one size category larger than average members of the creature's base race. Usually, this will result in a size category of Large.
Creating a Great Creature[edit]
The Great creature or Large template is almost invariably inherited. If the campaign setting is sufficiently technologically advanced, some genetic and/or hormonal manipulation may allow it to be an acquired template.
Size and Type[edit]
A Great creature is one size category larger than normal, and its type remains unchanged. This size increase may increase the creature's reach and space it takes up. The creature gains the bonuses and penalties on the table according to its new size. If the base creature is not medium size, subtract the bonuses and penalties from the base size and add the bonuses and penalties of the new size.

Speed[edit]
A Great creature's base land speed is as the base creature's +10 feet.
Ability Score Changes[edit]
A great creature's extra growth may provide an increase in muscle mass or an improvement in how the body deals with various stressors. Consequently, a Great creature receives either a +2 bonus to Strength or a +2 bonus to Constitution. Only one may be chosen, the decision must be made at character creation, and the decision cannot be changed. A Great creature receives a -2 penalty to Dexterity because of the extra mass that must be accelerated with each movement. A Great creature receives a -2 penalty to Charisma as society tends to either look down upon them (figuratively, of course) or be wary of them.
Other[edit]
Creatures with gigantism not treated by modern methods rarely live into old age. They reach the "old age" category after spending half the time in middle age as their peers and reach "venerable" one quarter of this time afterward, reaching this last stage years before others of their kind become old. Their maximum age is as normal after reaching venerable. Also, although players might think this aspect to be quite superficial, the character will be very aware of his mortality.
Creatures such as Killoren, which are naturally immortal, are also immune to this change.
Roleplaying Ideas[edit]
Historically, men with gigantism have been looked upon as freakish, but ultimately useful. Such people were typically trained to fight from an early age due to their strength and ability to strike fear into the hearts of enemies. A character may embrace this sort of upbringing, identifying it as something at which he excels, or he may resent it, seeking to actively pursue non-combat options. Women with gigantism were typically seen only as freakish, but generally their families found a way to integrate them into society as more or less normal.
Note[edit]
Climb[edit]
Although the climb skill itself is not changed, it is worth noting that the creature's size may enhance climbing ability by allowing higher ledges and branches to be reached.
Intimidate[edit]
Being larger than one's opponent grants Great creatures a bonus to intimidate checks.
Jump[edit]
The 10 foot bonus to movement grants a bonus (or a reduction in penalty) on jump checks as per the skill description.
Level Adjustment[edit]
