|fluff=You cut a few corners on the familiar summoning ritual.  It was really cheap, but you got what you paid for.
|benefit=You get a familiar.  However, you get no familiar benefits.  In fact, it's just a regular animal which for some reason understands you (but not vice versa).  On the flip side, you count as having a familiar and if the familiar dies (because it is a regular animal) you take no penalty or backlash, and it re-appears after 1 hour.  At least, I think it's the same one...
