Ratings
We have a proper forum for requesting ratings; Articles in Need of Ratings. Please do not spam talk pages to get your articles recognized. --TK-Squared 02:33, 28 October 2010 (UTC)
- Due to past experience with that same form on the old wiki, I have very little trust with this one. Noting that many of the raters are the same. I have only found two ways to get suggestions on my pages. 1) Create or move an incomplete article into the main; or 2) post a request for advice on a users talk page. You must thank Tarkisflux for his comments here. Which only added to my distrust for the named form. Unless the noted form works better than it did (there is no reason it will), I will continue to request ratings on talk pages. --Franken Kesey 02:54, 28 October 2010 (UTC)
- I actually suggested you request in chat, not on individual talk pages. Plenty of feedback happens more or less immediately in chat (or so I'm told, I'm actually not there all that much). We decided not to do talk pages specifically because it was a lot of work to put requests up on multiple pages, and also because it cluttered things up. I'm not saying you can't request on talk pages, although large scale requests for ratings in that way have previously been shown to not work, but if a user asks you to not request on their talk pages you should respect that. - Tarkisflux 04:55, 28 October 2010 (UTC)
- In order
- Sorry for misrepresenting you.
- Dislike chat pages - not enough time to think, or lay it all out. Also, don't like to belittle myself with kinder-talk. But thanks for giving me an alternative.
- For edits and the like, have never requested from more than a dozen. If I keep it to half a dozen, will it still be to much clutter?
- Of course I will respect any any user that does not want request on talk page. Having respected TKs' request. I am just asking once, and not asking those who don't want the clutter.
- If nominal(meaning so small that is inconsequential) amount of requests (6) is still to much clutter, please let me know. I will immediately discontinue. Thanks --Franken Kesey 05:22, 28 October 2010 (UTC)
- In order
- No worries. - Your call on chat dislike, though I have no idea what you mean by "kinder-talk". - The edit limits are really fuzzy. As long as you're not pissing people off, you're fine. - As long as your going to respect their wishes in this respect, I'm not going to tell you how to go about asking for help or ratings. It hasn't worked in the past, but maybe it'll work for you. I certainly don't mind if you try right now since no one else is doing these things, but if it picks up and others start as well it's likely to get stopped again. - Tarkisflux 05:37, 28 October 2010 (UTC)
- Kinder means child, specificity young child - kindergarten. Mean the talk of a child - the common irrational insults, tough talk by people who sit with a computer all day. People acting like there from the ghetto, or like their life is tough... I misrepresented myself, its not that I dislike chat or small talk, I hate it with a vengeance. Will stop any followers, though the blind make pretty shabby leaders. Live what you love (madness is sanity)--Franken Kesey 06:07, 28 October 2010 (UTC)
- Everything==Nothing. - Tarkisflux 06:16, 28 October 2010 (UTC)
- How do you mean? --Franken Kesey 06:19, 28 October 2010 (UTC)
- Just attempting to go along with you on the madness front. - Tarkisflux 06:24, 28 October 2010 (UTC)
- Oh sorry-
- -did you say something-
- -An epiphany at last! That would explain the what goes down, must come up law.
- The effects on this finding... the effects on you, must be bringing you close to sanity.
- Sanity can be a scary thing. And it can only take one instance for it to creep up on you.
- They can have you committed for something like sanity these days. They almost got us-
- -but we found a loophole right.
- No I found a loophole.
- Just don't let to many people find that your becoming sane. Thats the last thing that they would want. Thanks for the play --Franken Kesey 06:56, 28 October 2010 (UTC)
- Oh sorry-
- Please stop adding fucktons of shit to the Articles in Need of Rating. The rating committee has been very on-again off-again in its overall level of activity, so it isn't exactly as though you're speeding up the process, and furthermore, the rating committee is not solely limited to whatever is on that list; many of the rated articles are given distinction spontaneously, without the guidance of the list. The list is there so that neglected items of genuine quality can be put into queue for rating, not to be spammed with mediocre crap. Be selective. That's the whole fucking point. -- Jota 23:35, 3 January 2011 (UTC)
Images
As TK's example on the Necromancer image fairly clearly shows, images that are labeled "free to use" on a collection site are probably not licensed to that site by the copyright holder. Any future images from those sites will need to be put up under fair use with a link back to them as well. - Tarkisflux 17:26, 12 November 2010 (UTC)
- Sorry about that. Are the transport and city starship images also under this category? They all state that there by Noba - but why trust the website. If so will fix. Thanks --Franken Kesey 18:02, 12 November 2010 (UTC)
- No problem. Until TK pointed it out I thought they were probably fine. The issue with the Necromancer in particular is that WotC owns and uses it, and it's extremely doubtful that they would license it for free use. And that casts doubt over the whole Playrum site as having any authority to say it's "free to use" except under fair use. As a general rule, if you have a statement from the artist or copyright holder on their site or page (for deviantart) you can use it with permission, but if it's just on a collection site that indicates it's "free" you probably want to use fair use even if they do reference the artist (unless you go back to the artist page and they say it's free to use or whatever).
- Whee copyright. - Tarkisflux 18:13, 12 November 2010 (UTC)
Wasomi, and other things
I've made some comments on the Wasomi talk page; please read and respond as soon as you are able to. Additionally though, while cleaning up the Wasomi page, I made a lot of spelling corrections and a few grammar corrections. In the future, please use a spell checker. I'm a bit easier on grammar, but with the ease and availability of spell checkers there is really no excuse to have obvious spelling mistakes in completed articles, and I'm going to start incompleting articles that are pandemic of this issue. Bad spelling in a few widely-seen articles make the entire site look bad. Sorry to have to say this because, other than that, the article was pretty good! Surgo 16:50, 17 November 2010 (UTC)
- Sorry, I have speling difficulties. Could there be a spell check tool at the top of editing pages? (a grammatical would be nice as well.) Might minimise the number of insistences like this, in the future. Thanks --Franken Kesey 17:43, 17 November 2010 (UTC)
- We can't do one site-wide, unfortunately, but web browsers commonly have integrated spell checkers. Firefox and Chrome automatically spell check as you type. If your browser doesn't, you can copy/paste to Word, spell check, and copy/paste back. Surgo 17:51, 17 November 2010 (UTC)
- Will do. --Franken Kesey 18:26, 17 November 2010 (UTC)
- Copy/paste to a word processor also has the benefit of them including reasonable grammar checkers. They're nowhere near perfect and you may need to ignore some of their suggestions, but if you have difficulties in those areas it'll likely be helpful. - Tarkisflux 18:52, 17 November 2010 (UTC)
My Homebrew
Please don't use any of the things I've created in your charop builds; they are not, and never were meant to be used in charop builds. If you want to use homebrew in your charop builds that's your deal (though even that I don't agree with as far as the core build is concerned), but please refrain from using any of my stuff. --Ghostwheel 21:27, 13 February 2011 (UTC)
- Same here, please, for the same reasons. - TG Cid 21:38, 13 February 2011 (UTC)
- Thank you for letting me know. I will never use any of your stuff (since that is your wish). And I humbly apologize for doing so on prior occasions. I would still greatly appreciate any advice you might have on my stuff; And would hope that this has not disabled you from doing so. Let me know of any other blunders. Thank you --Franken Kesey 21:41, 13 February 2011 (UTC)
- That's fine; just remove our stuff from your builds ASAP. Thanks. --Ghostwheel 21:46, 13 February 2011 (UTC)
Frank and K
Is this you?--ParakeeTalk 22:00, 4 June 2011 (UTC)
- No, Frank & K stand for Frank Trollman and K, which are two individuals. --Leziad 22:01, 4 June 2011 (UTC)
- The name Franken Kesey commemorates Ken Kesey and Frankenstein (not the creature, the scientist). Was unaware of a similar name when making it. And I do not endorse Frank & Ks' stuff. Sorry for the confusion. --Franken Kesey 06:58, 5 June 2011 (UTC)

Winter Cleaning
Without feedback I do not know if articles are going into a good direction. Thus I will start removing the winter cleaning template only on: Nyota Mji (3.5e Location), Onni (3.5e Racial Paragon Class), Uon Turret (3.5e Monster), and Bot (3.5e Subtype). I do understand the faults of the other creature entries, and will attempt to finish them in a timely fashion. I only wish to get as much off the table as possible. Thank you. --Franken Kesey 09:10, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
- That's fine. The template is only supposed to be applied with sufficient clarity in the reason or on the talk page that it's clear when the issues are resolved. Since it's rather vague in those cases and the things I've seen that needed work have been largely covered, removing it seems appropriate. - Tarkisflux Talk 19:52, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
About Complete Xeno
I've put this off long enough and I have to address it one day. I'll warn you ahead of time that while I'm not actually trying to be rude or insulting, it is probably going to come off that way so, yeah, sorry about that. Anyway, about Complete Xeno...
The reason I haven't touched it in ages was because it became dislikable. I'm going to be blunt, I don't really like your work. There's various reasons for that and none of them important right now, but when I had originally made the sourcebook I made the mistake of not having tighter controls of what went into it, and there had been a period of like a month or two where I wasn't able to work on it and lost steam. Unfortunately you're very, um, fast when it comes to making a glut of stuff and by the time I returned to it your stuff made up most of the content, and it was too much bulk for me to try and comb and approve of all of it at one time. There's also the issue where I try to be a little polite and it'll be kinda rude if I went "hey thanks for writing a novel but it all sucks". Where it just a few pages it wouldn't be a problem, but it's lots of material you have. When you had apparently left, and some of your articles started falling victim to quality control issues, I was intending to just wait it out, but you came back and all so I can't really do that. Probably sounds rather mean but, to my knowledge, you had gone for good to parts unknown and all.
Anyways, yeah, such leaves me in a pickle where I have this book and everything, but I really want to be dissassociated with it and with the material you've made. I don't care if you make a book of your own (or adopt mine and exlucde my races, or whatever). I am busy with Complete Transportation and other projects right now anyway, maybe one day I'll work my existing aliens into a coherent whole again.
So yeah, that's the story of what's going on, and hopefully you aren't too insulted. What will you be doing then? -- Eiji-kun 02:31, 25 October 2011 (UTC)
- I hear you. And have no excuse for my low grade. I do need your help with understanding how I am the main contributer. I do acknowledge copying the format in chapter one, and filling in the wholes where possible - with only things from the authors sources. But I did not create or mutate the ideas in any way - purely verbatim. I also acknowledge linking relating articles onto the proper chapters - but never added any of my own to others works.
- I have one mini chapter that does cover my work. This is one of 1/7 of the book - which is not a majority. The cumulation of which is dwarfed by your first chapter on gokiburi.
- Your statement of cutting the momentum seams misplaced. For you seem to have hit a writers block long before I joined. this was the initial reason why I did join - to help bring back the interest.
- The quality control only removed two equipment pages, and a class; the class was not at all related to the source book. (Thus your hope of them being removed for quality is misguided.) My work uses a creative writing style; which is not in fact incorrect. I am happy to admit it does not read like a textbook. That being said, this sites constrains have to do with mechanical completeness, not one persons opinion. Nor personal values or tastes.
- You have not insulted me in anyway. In fact I greatly admire your frankness, and that you never put on any sugar coating. Please help me see where you are coming from. --Franken Kesey 06:06, 25 October 2011 (UTC)
- I didn't mean to imply that you've made changes to my sections. Far as I know you haven't. I mean you've put a lot of work in, and that leaves me with trouble. Since I don't like your work, I don't want it in a sourcebook by me because, well, it's something I don't actually support. On the other hand, I realize I haven't put that much into it, so it's hard to say I'm still contributing to my own sourcebook, I'm not trying to be the tyrant here. I figure how it'll end up is that either I get control and you break off, or you get control and I break off (or more likely, I keep any sourcebook pages in my sandbox until the time I decide to revive it under a new name or something). But honestly I'm not really sure how to go about that. All I know is that your stuff is extensive, not merely in terms of sourcebook pages but pages which the sourcebook links to.
- Even if my stuff was removed from the sourcebook the actual articles it links to will still be around, I'm not planning to get rid of Gokiburis or Noo or any of that stuff. I just don't feel it has a place in the current Complete Xeno as it stands.
- Anyway I suppose that's the rub of it. To my knowledge in spite of my dislike for your articles you aren't actually breaking any rules or the like. I just want to dissassociate my works from yours. That would mean removing references of my races and stuff from your places, though that one seems to be the easy part, I'm pretty sure you got tons of material to fill their spots from WotC and without.
- On the matter of why I dislike the things, well, purposefully not getting to that now, by and part because I'm too busy to go searching around and compiling an arguement, and I'm not about to argue from a stance by memory alone. Plus it's been a very long time since either of us have been active on the matter, so right now I'm not gonna worry about it. -- Eiji-kun 06:59, 25 October 2011 (UTC)
- I understand where you are coming from. And have deep respect for your creative mind. Due to the extent of how much my stuff troubles you, I will remove all my work on the source book (give me a month or so to get it transfered). If you would like to speed this process up, then replacement articles advice would be most helpful.
- You speak of me removing all links to complete xeno from my works. This I cannot promise. Much of Sulacu's work I rely on, I can only try to remove all links to your races. (A few feats, items, and non-Eiji races I can not remove either - due to how much I depend on them.) Perhaps we could separate the universe into two parts - your set of galaxies, and my set. Yet allow them to be in the same universe. This way you can disassociate with me; while I can not loose all the time I put into the book.
- To be frank, I am taken aback by how much you despise my works. Due to my sincere respect for you, I would be most appreciative if you would do me the honor of helping me fix my monstrosities. Most do not have the knowledge, experience, or perfection that you do. --Franken Kesey 20:11, 28 October 2011 (UTC)
- Oh. o.o That went better than expected.
- Take your time then, I'm in no rush myself and it'll be a while til I can bring attention to CX anyway. You're free to make your own sourcebook and copy my formatting if you like. Also, I didn't mean remove everything from CX, just my own stuff. What Sulacu does and cares about would be her own deal.
- I'll see what I can do about the last part, when I've a clearer head and am more into the CX mindset. Feel kinda bad since I seem to be all respected and all and I'm being all "mean" right now, but thanks for understanding. I'll do what I can later. -- Eiji-kun 23:42, 28 October 2011 (UTC)
- Due to the structure of the homebrew on the wiki, there's a tendency to be protective of your work because it carries your name. In projects and sourcebooks, this falls heaviest on the lead author. Everything in it reflects on them, either as their own work or as their ability to keep a unified vision and tone.
- With that in mind I think "despise" is too strong a word, though Eiji is welcome to correct me. If I had to guess (based on Eiji's concerns with other work) I would say that the primary issues here stem from your writing style and lack of concern for balance. Eiji is certainly whimsical with his work, but that's largely an inspiration thing. He's quite clear with mechanics and wording. Your style doesn't match that most of the time, whether it's stemming from a lack of familiarity with the rules or an attempt to be intentionally vague or unclear (which happens on occasion as far as I can tell). It's the same sort of thing with balance. Eiji is worried about it and tries to design for it while you design what you think interesting or fun and let the balance point fall out of that, even if that means it comes out inconsistently. Though these things are fine in general, I know that I would feel weird if a project of mine contained different writing styles and differently balanced articles because my name was on it as the lead author and it reflects on my ability to direct and bring the project together cohesively. And I can think of examples where other authors have rejected things to avoid having them associated with another piece of work. In this case it may simply be that your styles and goals are too different for Eiji to be comfortable with your contributions to a project with his name at the top of it. - Tarkisflux Talk 02:23, 29 October 2011 (UTC)
- I have peacefully and respectively left your project. Noting that all my races and feats will still show up on the introduction and hero page, I would like it mentioned, in the introduction or main page, that there is a similar alien source book (I can do the same on mine). --Franken Kesey 05:02, 5 November 2011 (UTC)
Neither my sith/jedi class, nor my viveka spectre prestige class show up on the main class page. Can somebody show me what went wrong? --Franken Kesey 05:33, 3 November 2011 (UTC)
- You didn't do anything wrong. It looks like a combination of "move doesn't trigger table updates the same way editing does" and "displays hadn't updated" errors. So I edit/saved the pages and then refreshed the nav, and they're there now. - Tarkisflux Talk 07:21, 3 November 2011 (UTC)
Rating Templates
The RC Favor template is only still here as a legacy thing, and should no longer be used for new ratings. Please use the new Rating template instead. Additional rating instructions can be found at Rating Articles. - Tarkisflux Talk 19:00, 19 January 2012 (UTC)
- Also, when you rate an article, don't forget to update the author block on the main page. You'll need to add you name to the list of raters there, and update the article score based on your rating. I got the Schrodinger's Cat for you already, so this is just an "in future, please..." sort of thing :-) - Tarkisflux Talk 17:29, 31 March 2012 (UTC)

I have talked to the person in charge of the server and he is snail-mailing me the credentials for the server. I'll be able to fix this problem and any other server bugs we encounter once the mail arrives :). --Aarnott 13:26, 30 April 2012 (UTC)
Fixing Ratings
Please do not update any more old style ratings. The migration plan specifically includes the old style ratings staying behind until the old raters revisited them, since the granularity change was seen as sufficient to not just change things over entirely. - Tarkisflux Talk 03:36, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
Edit - Fixing the totals on the article page is completely fine, and somewhat appreciated. I'm referring to the individual ratings on the talk pages, which should be left alone. - Tarkisflux Talk 03:37, 27 March 2012 (UTC)

I got your message, and have started going through and rating your stuff. Would you mind looking over something of mine? Specifically, the Godling (3.5e Prestige Class)? Thank you in advance. --Qwertyu63 (talk) 16:21, 5 August 2013 (UTC)
You asked for my rating
Of the Judge of Existence (3.5e Class) and Dream Lord (3.5e Prestige Class).
And I've would rather tell you here about my openion.
A) they are both great ideas
B) but you make them to complicated for my taste
C) if I've was to rate them it would be somewere between dislike and neutral, but the ideas and the amount of work deserves better so im stating my advise her.
B1) If you want to make something as complicated as this make a splatbook (like book of nine swords) then when you have taught people the mecanics you could easely use it for a bunch of classes, feats and spells.
All the while it still feels simple.
hope it helps but remember, you can't make everybody happy with your work and in the end its your oppenion that matters.Wildmage Talk 21:02, 5 August 2013 (UTC)
- Both classes were made to be played with the current rule system. The issue with creating a separate book for them is each GM would have to add more rules (to their already remarkable list). As I have said many times, I enjoy biting and exacting criticism. If you think either class deserves to be hated, then mark it as such on the page. But more importantly explain in detail why. I never plan on GMing, thus will always have to please some - not all - but some, to use any of my twisted rules. Think of this as a middle ground: lose some mechanics and creativity for more practicality.--Franken Kesey (talk) 22:27, 5 August 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for offering to help with my Spider-Monk. I've put in a lot of fixes over the last couple of days, trying to figure out exactly what the ideal form of this class should look like. Having perused your user page, I've noticed that you volunteer to help a lot of people. Most of them seem to appreciate it, so I think I'd appreciate it too. When you have time, please look at the Spider-Monk page and also the Spider Savage prestige class (both containing links to each other, for your convenience).--Nolanf (talk) 06:27, 13 August 2013 (UTC)

Hi, I'm IskatuMesk, creator of the renders such as the Xy`Kranasha Zurren seen here. https://dnd-wiki.org/wiki/File:Guzurren.jpg
A viewer notified me you are using these renders on your site. I noticed you are linking back to my old DeviantArt website I took down explicitly to remove these images from the internet. I do not mind if you continue to use these images, but please link them instead to Gameproc.com and explicitly credit me (IskatuMesk) for them. I have not thoroughly looked through this site for others, nor am I familiar with wiki's or the editing of them, so it's not a fix I am comfortable doing myself.
Thanks.
- I'm not FrankenKesey, but I am an admin here. I went ahead and changed the link to the one posted, and credited your name on there! If there's anything else you need, just reply to this and I'll get right on it!
Requesting ratings
If you could give anything listed on my userpage a look and possibly a rating, that would be nice, thanks. Just finishing putting links there so everything is easy to find. Zhenra-Khal (talk) 17:26, 18 December 2016 (MST)
