Talk:Amaranth Eclipse (3.5e Martial Discipline)
404Edit
You know, I really like this discipline. The flavor is cool, the powers are cool, there's just one small problem...
....none of the maneuvers have pre-reqs. Did they forget them? I'd love to use this but I can't use it without knowing the pre-reqs. -- Eiji-kun 13:00, 5 February 2011 (UTC)
- Why though? That maneuvers traditionally have prereqs doesn't make it a hard requirement that they should have them. I disagree with the winter cleaning tag and this message. Surgo 19:09, 5 February 2011 (UTC)
- I would generally agree with this. The author probably isn't going to see this, and it is otherwise good. A warning that this discipline is without prerequisites would be useful, but deleting it completely would be a shame. --Havvy 20:41, 5 February 2011 (UTC)
- I've placed a note on the user's talk page. Thundergod Cid is active around here isn't he? I think he'll see it, and it wasn't my intention of having it deleted, rather I was bringing note what I saw as a glaring flaw to an otherwise perfect work. Now, I would argue that yes, maneuvers should have pre-reqs (the sole exception to the rule is so glaring I swear it was a typo, looking at you Tombstone Hammer....) but that's a debate for another day.
- If you don't think he will notice this, I'll be happy to do the work. Like I said, I like this discipline. -- Eiji-kun 00:17, 6 February 2011 (UTC)
- Oh, I thought this was one of the transferred disciplines from before I got here. Yeah, Cidolfas, if you want to add pre-reqs. And the number of exceptions is actually quite higher in homebrew than in published material. Also, many of my favorite maneuvers in Tome of Battle don't have pre-reqs despite being at a level they could have them. --Havvy 00:32, 6 February 2011 (UTC)
