The foul stench of rotting raw chicken left in the sun fills your nose as a routund and fetid 5 foot tall chicken waddles in on its stumpty maleformed legs. Its wings, short and useless, have claws melded in with them and its wide face possesses a tiny beak, dwarfed by the wide and toothy grin behind it. It laughs as it belches a cloud of filth outward.

The doctors and scientists of the demon lord Bookbakoook the Mother Clucker, rotthen are filthy monstrosities. While the stormcockerel, tyrantfowl, and demon chicken could all pass for an actual chicken there is no mistaking the rotthen's fiendish nature. They are man-sized and grotesquely obese, covered in sickly green plumage and oozing fluids from their mouth and weeping sores just under their feathers. Their wings have claw hands and are too short for their bulk, a gaping wound in their bellies which opens revealing a vertically aligned maw of teeth, and a stench so foul that trogdolytes weep. Yet in spite of their unsanitary appearance, they serve as both medical staff and as necromancers, recycling fallen chickens and returning them to service as terrible biozombies.

Rotthens are known for their jovial, yet sadistic nature and they are always glad to "help". Helping usually involves misplacing a few organs, adding others, and creating a cure to the problem which has worse side effects. They speak Abyssal and the language of chickens and other domesticated birds, and are usually accompanied by (or carried by) a retinue of biozombie demon chickens.

Combat[edit]

Rotthens are controllers, and when possible they order other creatures around to do their dirty work while they provide support and healing, relying on their outright toughness to serve them through the battle. They can open their stomachs and release their intestines like a tongue or a whip to grapple opponents without being grappled themselves. They view defeat as an inconvience, as it is nortoriously difficult to keep a rotthen dead. As enemy forces drop, they are quick to turn them to its side whenever possible, or setting traps by infecting recent corpses, then letting their allies take them away, unaware that their dead ally will be coming back sooner than they can prepare a raise dead spell...

Absorb Corruption (Su): Rotthens can absorb the disease, nausea, paralysis, poison, or sickness status effects and transfer them elsewhere or expunge them with its own immunities. With a touch attack, as a standard action it can remove any and all of these effects from a creature and hold it on itself as a touch spell. If it is struck with a spell or effect, it can absorb it from the attack as a free action. In either case, it can return the status to another using the same saving throws (if any) as its original source.

Death Throes (Su): Rotthens are filled to the brim with a cocktail of disease and chemicals. On death, they explode into a 10 ft. radius cloud of acidic poison which deals 1d6 acid damage per HD and exposes those affected to its disease, DC 30 Fortitude to half the damage and negates the disease. The save DC is Constitution based.

Demon Fork (Ex): All minions of Bookbakoook possess a special trident called a demon fork. It has the damage and reach of a +3 Acidic BurstMIC FleshgrindingBoVD trident of a creature one size catagory larger, and is a finessable weapon. In the hands of other creatures, they are simply medium sized tridents. Rotthens somehow manipulate these weapons with their wings, though their claws function as useable hands regardless, and can tuck it away hidden with a +20 search check to find when sheathed.

Disease (Su): Rotthens carry the biozombie rot virus- Fortitude DC 30 (10 + 1/2 HD + Con), save negates, incubation period 1d3 hours, damage 1d4 Con and Cha. If either constitution or charisma hits 0, the ability damage is removed, the creature gains the biozombie template, and they probably go out to bite someone's face off. Unlike normal zombies, biozombies made through this disease are always chaotic evil, understand abyssal, and are under direct verbal command of the rotthen, though they only understand simple orders.

Fiendish Down (Sp): The rotthen's fetid feathers have a regenerative effect on the dead, at a cost. When placed on an intact dead corpse, they immediately gain the biozombie template and rise again at full health next round, under command of the rotthen. However, this form of virus is too aggressive, and the creature completely rots into a filthy green-brown pool of organic sludge after 1 round/level.

Filthy (Ex): Rotthens are covered in corrosive filth. Any creature which strikes them with an unarmed strike, natural attack, or non-reach weapon gets a splash of pus in their face so vile it deals 5 points of acid damage.

Intestine Grab (Ex): The rotthen's intestines worm in its split belly like a tongue, and can lash out as a ranged attack (treat this as a whip) for all purposes, including feats and abilities). If a rotthen hits with its intestines, it can then attempt to start a grapple as a free action without provoking an attack of opportunity. The rotthen is not considered grappled itself if it has grappled a creature in its intestines. Its intestines may be severed by dealing 50 points of damage to them, AC 21 (+9 natural, +2 size), which prevents their use. The intestines regrow in 3d6 minutes.

Headless (Ex): Rotthens are hard to keep dead. They can live without their head for 1d10 days, though they are blind and they become mindless creatures during this time (rending them immune to mind-affecting effects). This renders them partly immune to the vorpal weapon enhancement... at least for a short time.

Regeneration (Ex): Rotthen regeneration is bypassed by good and fire damage.

Spell-Like Abilities (Sp): At will- contagion (DC 18), gentle repose, touch of fatigue (DC 14); 3/day- bestow curse (DC 18), blindness/deafness (DC 16), ghoul touch (DC 16), stinking cloud (DC 17); 2/day- cloudkill (DC 19), eyebite (DC 20), harm (DC 20), heal; 1/day- acid fog. Caster level 14th. The saving throws are Charisma based.

Combat (Biozombie Demon Chickens)[edit]

Disease (Su): biozombie rot virus- Fortitude DC 21 (10 + 1/2 HD + Con), save negates, incubation period 1d3 hours, damage 1d4 Con and Cha.
