Blighted Serpent (3.5e Martial Discipline)/All Maneuvers
Blighted Serpent (Strike) [Evil] | |
Level: | 4 |
---|---|
Prerequisite: | Two Blighted Serpent maneuvers |
Initiation Action: | Standard Action |
Range: | 30 ft |
Area: | All diseased or poisoned creatures in a 30 ft radius spread centered on you |
Duration: | Instantaneous |
Saving Throw: | None |
The squalid queen has grown impatient, she wishes to see the flesh boil now!
Channeling the dark power of the squalid queen, you raise your blade and force all diseased or poisoned creatures in a 30 ft spread to make saving throws as if the next duration came to pass, which may be daily for a disease or 1 minute for most poisons. If the effect has a limited lifespan (such as most poisons which end on a secondary save regardless of success of failure), the duration ends as normal.
This is a supernatural maneuver.
Blighted Serpent (Stance) | |
Level: | 7 |
---|---|
Prerequisite: | Three Blighted Serpent maneuvers |
Initiation Action: | Swift |
Range: | Personal |
Target: | Self |
The poison has wracked your form into something most impure. None dare look upon you.
While you are in this stance, you gain a gaze attack out to 60 ft. Those who witness your warped form must make a Fortitude save or have their reality poisoned so that they are as warped as you. They take 1d10 points of damage to an ability score of your choice. You cannot target the same ability score more than once, being unable to affect them further once you have affected all ability scores. Once they succeed on a saving throw against your gaze attack, they cannot be affected again for 24 hours. However, you can force another save on a creature within 60 ft as a standard action.
Take caution when using his maneuver, for allies are not exempt from your horrid gaze.
This is a supernatural maneuver. It is not technically poison, as the damage runs much deeper.
Blighted Serpent (Counter) | |
Level: | 5 |
---|---|
Prerequisite: | Two Blighted Serpent maneuvers |
Initiation Action: | Immediate |
Range: | 60 ft |
Target: | One creature |
Duration: | 1 round/level |
Saving Throw: | Will partial |
The healing potion began to sizzle as it touched skin, and the wounded arm began to shrivel.
You call on the power of the squalid queen to curse all sources of healing. As an immediate action you can cause a creature which is receiving the benefit of healing to not only not benefit from the healing, but to take damage equal to the amount they would have healed. For 1 round/level, the creature is unable to heal from any source. Injuries continue to harm as normal.
On a successful save, the creature still does not benefit from the healing you countered, but is not harmed by the healing attempt nor does it become unable to heal beyond the initial counter.
This is a supernatural maneuver. It can be removed by dispel attempts as well as remove curse.
Blighted Serpent (Counter) [Acid] | |
Level: | 6 |
---|---|
Prerequisite: | Two Blighted Serpent maneuvers |
Initiation Action: | Immediate |
Range: | Melee Atack |
Target: | One weapon which is attacking you |
Duration: | Instantaneous |
Saving Throw: | Fortitude half |
The blood of the legendary black beast is said to have been so potent none could harm it. Now, harness this dread power within your own heart.
In response to a melee attack you may activate this maneuver (which occurs immediately after you take damage). Mundane weapons melt away and are destroyed, while magical weapons take 1d6 points of acid damage per initiator level, with a Fortitude save for half damage. Creatures attacking with natural weapons also take 1d6 points of acid damage per level, with a save for half and no worry about their weapons being destroyed.
Blighted Serpent (Stance) | |
Level: | 1 |
---|---|
Prerequisite: | One Blighted Serpent maneuver |
Initiation Action: | Swift |
Range: | Personal |
Target: | Self |
With the expertise of the drow, you envenom your blade in a single swift flick of your blade before plunging it into the heart of your enemy.
While you are in this stance you gain the Poison Use ability, and may choose to apply poisons as a swift action. If you already have Poison Use, you may apply poisons as a free action instead.
At initiator level 4th and beyond, the DCs of all your diseases and poisons you employ have the DC increased by 1/4th your initiator level.
Blighted Serpent (Strike) | |
Level: | 5 |
---|---|
Prerequisite: | Two Blighted Serpent maneuvers |
Initiation Action: | Standard |
Range: | 60 ft |
Area: | 60 ft cone-shaped spread |
Duration: | 1 round; see text |
Saving Throw: | Fortitude partial |
No breath mint can cure this.
A cloying thick poisonous smoke erupts from your mouth and ruins all it touches. The cloud deals 1d6 points of poison damage per initiator level (so poison immunity applies), and causes all creatures to begin burning for 1 round/level. A successful Fortitude save halves the damage and negates the burning effect. The cloud of poison hangs around for 1 round vanishing at the end of your turn. The cloud provides total concealment and displaces the oxygen in the area. Any creature which attempts to speak in the area risks suffocating.
This is a supernatural maneuver.
Blighted Serpent (Strike) | |
Level: | 2 |
---|---|
Prerequisite: | One Blighted Serpent maneuver |
Initiation Action: | Standard |
Range: | 15 ft |
Area: | Cone-shaped spread |
Duration: | Instantaneous |
Saving Throw: | Fortitude partial |
Pale green smoke erupts from your mouth, smelling of death and decay.
You breath a 15 ft cone of poison which deals 1d4 points of non-lethal damage per level (maximum 5d4) and poisons the target (1d3 Con/1d3 Con).
You can choose to drink poison as a move action as part of activating this maneuver. If you do so, this poison does not harm you and instead has the effect applied to the cone effect (effectively transforming it into an inhaled poison). Use the DC of the poison rather than the maneuver. This replaces the Con damage portion of this maneuver with the damage from your poison (non-lethal damage still applies).
A successful save negates the poison, but not the damage.
Blighted Serpent (Strike) | |
Level: | 8 |
---|---|
Prerequisite: | Three Blighted Serpent maneuvers |
Initiation Action: | 1 round |
Range: | 60 ft |
Area: | 60 ft cone-shaped spread |
Duration: | 1 round/level |
Saving Throw: | See text |
The miasma left all which touched it forever cursed.
All creatures in a 60 ft cone must make a Fortitude save or be petrified for 1 round/level. Even after the duration ends, they must make a second saving throw or return to normal at 0 Dex. On a successful save, they instead take 1d8 Dex damage (minimum 1 Dex).
A creature which successfully saves is immune to further uses of this maneuver for 24 hours. This maneuver is a supernatural ability.
Blighted Serpent (Strike) [Acid] | |
Level: | 3 |
---|---|
Prerequisite: | One Blighted Serpent maneuver |
Initiation Action: | Standard |
Range: | 30 ft |
Area: | Cone-shaped spread |
Duration: | Instantaneous |
Saving Throw: | Reflex half |
They say the swordsage murdered the High Priest... with his voice! Shouted him to slag!
With a roar like a dragon you emit a deadly spray of powerful stomach acid. You deal 1d6 points of damage per level in a 30 ft cone, with a Reflex save for half damage.
This is a supernatural maneuver.
Blighted Serpent (Strike) [Acid] | |
Level: | 4 |
---|---|
Prerequisite: | One Blighted Serpent maneuver |
Initiation Action: | Standard |
Range: | Melee or Ranged Attack |
Target: | One creature or object |
Duration: | Instantaneous |
Saving Throw: | None |
The blade left a sizzling wound which would not quit.
Make an attack. You deal an extra 1d4 acid damage per initiator level. On the next round the target takes half the acid damage you did last round from this maneuver again at the end of its turn. It can avoid this by wiping the wound clean as a standard action, or submerging completely in water.
This maneuver is a supernatural ability.
Blighted Serpent (Counter) | |
Level: | 7 |
---|---|
Initiation Action: | Immediate |
Range: | Personal |
Target: | Self |
Duration: | Instantaneous until discharged |
This poison is now part of me. Now I'm gonna make it part of you.
Whenever you're hit by acid damage, a disease, or a poison you can choose to absorb the effect in your body and not take damage. On your next successful melee attack you make, you release the acid, disease, or poison and subject your target to the amount of damage or saving throws you would have had to make.
Blighted Serpent (Boost) | |
Level: | 5 |
---|---|
Prerequisite: | One Blighted Serpent maneuver |
Initiation Action: | Swift |
Range: | 10 ft |
Area: | 10 ft radius spread centered on you |
Duration: | 1 round |
Saving Throw: | None |
The ground split forth and from the abyssal depths a dreadful noxious gas erupted.
When you use this maneuver, you are concealed in a thick cloud of noxious gases from the planet itself. The smoke provides total concealment, but you can see through it as if it wasn't there. In addition, any creature which ends its turn in the area is staggered, no save.
This is a supernatural maneuver. It can only be done if in contact with the earth.
Blighted Serpent (Counter) | |
Level: | 8 |
---|---|
Prerequisite: | Three Blighted Serpent maneuvers |
Initiation Action: | Immediate |
Range: | 60 ft |
Target: | One creature |
Duration: | 24 hours |
Saving Throw: | Will partial |
Death is inevitable.
This functions like Biological Decomposition, except not only does a creature become injured by healing, but they continue to be injured by healing from that point on, up to 24 hours later.
On a successful save, the creature still does not benefit from the healing you countered, but is not harmed by the healing attempt for the next 24 hours. Instead, it simply cannot benefit from healing for 24 hours.
This is a supernatural maneuver. It can be removed by dispel attempts as well as remove curse.
Blighted Serpent (Strike) [Acid] | |
Level: | 2 |
---|---|
Prerequisite: | One Blighted Serpent maneuver |
Initiation Action: | Standard |
Range: | Melee or Ranged Attack |
Target: | One creature or object |
Duration: | Instantaneous |
Saving Throw: | None |
Your weapon briefly transforms into a vivid green liquid which seems to bore into the target without resistance.
Channeling the power of the squalid queen, you transform your weapon into her vile tool. Make a melee attack; all damage is converted into acid damage, and any acid damage the weapon already does (such as via the Corrosive enhancement) is maximized. The attack ignores hardness and acid resistance, while acid immunity takes half damage.
This is a supernatural maneuver.
Blighted Serpent (Strike) [Acid] | |
Level: | 7 |
---|---|
Prerequisite: | Two Blighted Serpent maneuvers |
Initiation Action: | Standard |
Range: | Melee or Ranged Attack |
Target: | One creature or object |
Duration: | See text |
Saving Throw: | None |
The acid continued to melt through the floors, and deep into the earth with no end in sight..
Make an attack. You deal an extra 1d8 acid damage per initiator level. On the next round the target takes the full amount of acid damage you did last round from this maneuver again at the end of its turn. It can avoid this by wiping the wound clean as a standard action, or submerging completely in water.
This acid is so potent, it counts as disintegrate for how it interacts with force effects, destroying bodies, and destroying objects. Because it lasts for 2 rounds, it actually destroys two 10 ft cubes of matter over the course of 2 rounds.
This maneuver is a supernatural ability.
Blighted Serpent (Counter) | |
Level: | 2 |
---|---|
Prerequisite: | One Blighted Serpent maneuver |
Initiation Action: | Immediate |
Range: | 30 ft |
Effect: | One curative effect |
Duration: | Instantaneous |
Saving Throw: | None |
All those who witness the squalid queen shall rot.
Any creature within 30 ft which attempts to recover hp through mundane or magical means has the curative power blocked by the vile essence of the squalid queen. Mundane healing fails outright, while magical healing must succeed on a caster level check (DC 12 + initiator level) or be negated. Even on a successful check, the healing only recovers half the amount it should.
This is a supernatural maneuver.
Blighted Serpent (Strike) | |
Level: | 6 |
---|---|
Prerequisite: | Three Blighted Serpent maneuvers |
Initiation Action: | Standard |
Range: | 60 ft |
Target: | One creature |
Duration: | Instantaneous |
Saving Throw: | None |
Ptoo!
You throw a black wad of vile spit which burns the eyes. Make a ranged touch attack at -4. On a successful hit, the creature is blind until they take a move action to wipe their eyes. Even after then, they suffer from a 20% miss chance from concealment for 1 round as their eyes re-adjust.
Blighted Serpent (Boost) | |
Level: | 4 |
---|---|
Prerequisite: | One Blighted Serpent maneuver |
Initiation Action: | Boost |
Range: | Melee or Ranged Attack |
Target: | One creature or object |
Duration: | 1 round |
Saving Throw: | Fortitude negates |
As the sludge worked its way into the body, the creature's skin became translucent and began pealing off.
You use your own toxic biofilm to produce a skin-melting substance not unlike aboleth mucus. All attacks you make in 1 round strip away at the surface, reducing hardness and natural armor. You strip away 1d4 points of natural armor or hardness with each hit, to a minimum of 0. The penalty can be removed as if it were ability damage, and naturally recovers 1 point of natural armor or hardness each round as the surface re-hardens.
Blighted Serpent (Boost) [Evil] | |
Level: | 3 |
---|---|
Prerequisite: | One Blighted Serpent maneuver |
Initiation Action: | Standard Action |
Range: | Melee or Ranged Attack |
Target: | One creature or object |
Duration: | Instaneanous |
Saving Throw: | None |
The poison on your weapon is so vile, that even if they do not die from the poison itself they will never be the same again.
Make an attack with a poisoned weapon. Regardless of the effect of the poison, all weapon damage dealt is vile damageBoVD, such is the depths of the squalid queen's corruption.
Blighted Serpent (Strike) | |
Level: | 7 |
---|---|
Prerequisite: | Three Blighted Serpent maneuvers |
Initiation Action: | Standard |
Range: | 50 ft |
Target: | One creature |
Duration: | Instantaneous |
Saving Throw: | Reflex partial, Fortitude negates; see text |
A green sludge hit the rogue, which quickly hardened around him, immobilizing him.
Make a ranged touch attack. On a successful hit, the creature is entangled and its movement speeds drop to 0 ft. The slime forms a hard coating around the victim with hardness like stone, and 5 hp per initiator level. A successful Reflex save just renders the victim entangled, though the poison is still considered coating them.
The coating is poisonous, forcing a Fortitude save against taking 2 Con damage each round the slime is on them. A save negates the poison but does not free the target. A creature can remove the hard coating through damage (but dealing half the damage dealt to themselves), or a Strength check equal to your initiator level + 10. Submerging in water removes the coating after 1 round. Lastly, a victim can scrape the coating off carefully, a process which takes 2d4 rounds but deals no damage to itself.
Blighted Serpent (Strike) | |
Level: | 1 |
---|---|
Prerequisite: | One Blighted Serpent maneuver |
Initiation Action: | Standard |
Range: | 60 ft |
Target or Area: | One creature or object and the surrounding 10 ft radius area |
Duration: | 1 round/level |
Saving Throw: | See text |
You can feel an acrid wet belch rise from your throat before you vomit a pale runny substance teaming with foul-smelling mucus.
Make a ranged touch attack, as you vomit up a ball of mucus from your innards. Creatures you successfully strike are rendered sickened for 1 round/level, or until they wipe the goo off as a move action. In addition a 10 ft radius burst pops around them, coating the entire area in a grease effect.
Blighted Serpent (Stance) | |
Level: | 5 |
---|---|
Prerequisite: | Two Blighted Serpent maneuvers |
Initiation Action: | Swift |
Range: | Personal |
Target: | Self |
Legends tell of the squalid queen's many impure children, including the dreaded black beast whose hide melted all things. While in this stance your aura takes on the appearance of the scraggly demon of legend, and you can wade through danger.
While you are in this stance you are immune to acid, and any creatures (if using natural attacks) or weapons take 5 points of acid damage each time they strike you. Weapons are usually safe due to hardness, but natural attackers suffer.
Blighted Serpent (Boost) | |
Level: | 6 |
---|---|
Prerequisite: | Two Blighted Serpent maneuvers |
Initiation Action: | Swift |
Range: | Personal |
Target: | Self |
Duration: | 1 minute |
Saving Throw: | None |
Sacrifice your body to the queen, and obtain her power.
You can choose to deal 1d8 points of ability burn to an ability score you possess, and gain the amount loss as a profane bonus to attack and damage for 1 minute. Unlike normal ability burn, all ability burn done by this maneuver is recovered after you rest for 8 hours.
Blighted Serpent (Counter) | |
Level: | 3 |
---|---|
Prerequisite: | One Blighted Serpent maneuver |
Initiation Action: | Immediate |
Range: | Personal |
Target: | Self |
Duration: | Instantanous |
A technique passed down from a snake-loving dwarf, it turns any toxic terror into a refreshing beverage.
If you are poisoned (purposefully or not) you can activate this maneuver to heal from the poison instead. You recover ability damage instead of take ability damage, remove status effects instead of apply them, and heal hp instead of lose hp. Some effects such as death and petrification can't be reversed on account of you being unable to take immediate actions.
Blighted Serpent (Counter) | |
Level: | 4 |
---|---|
Prerequisite: | One Blighted Serpent maneuver |
Initiation Action: | Immediate action |
Range: | Melee Attack |
Target: | One creature who successfully hits you in melee |
Duration: | Instantaneous |
Saving Throw: | Fortitude negates; See text |
The blade pierced your skin, but rather than a splash of red blood you spray out a green miasma which brings ruin.
When a creature makes a successful melee attack against you with a piercing or slashing attack, your blood sprays out exposing them to deadly poison: 1d10 Con/1d10 Con.
You can choose to activate this maneuver up to 24 hours ahead of time for a different effect, consuming a poison as a move action and storing it in your blood. The poison does not harm you, and converts to a contact poison regardless of previous type. When injured and you activate this maneuver again, you can choose to cause your stored poison to spill out instead. Use the DC of the stored poison rather than the maneuver. You can only store one poison at a time, and if not used within 24 hours the poison is digested harmlessly.
Blighted Serpent (Stance) [Acid] | |
Level: | 3 |
---|---|
Prerequisite: | Two Blighted Serpent maneuvers |
Initiation Action: | Swift |
Range: | Personal |
Target: | Self |
The wound stung and burned like hellfire even as the dwarf fought off the poison. Barely. The poison was so potent, the warforged beside him was decaying before his eyes.
While you are in this stance your poisons bypass immunity to poison, though those immune gain a +8 bonus to resist your poison. Regardless if a creature saves against poison attempt or fails, they take an extra 1 point of acid damage per initiator level for every poisoned attack you make, as you apply the toxins to key nerves and points on the body.
Blighted Serpent (Counter) | |
Level: | 1 |
---|---|
Initiation Action: | Immediate |
Range: | Personal |
Target: | Self |
Duration: | Instantaneous |
The deadly butulinum toxin was no match for the worse poisons which seep through your very bones.
When this maneuver is activated you gain resistance to acid equal to three times your initiator level, and a bonus against disease and poison equal to your initiator level.
If you are engulfed or swallowed whole, the act of activating this maneuver briefly causes other beings to register you as a vile toxin. They must eject you (a move action taken on their turn), or be rendered nauseated for 1d3 rounds.
Blighted Serpent (Boost) | |
Level: | 1 |
---|---|
Initiation Action: | Swift; see text |
Range: | Touch |
Target: | One piercing or flexible weapon, or up to 50 piercing ammunition. |
Duration: | 1 round |
The wounds you open immediately begin to rot and fester as if in the throes of gangrene.
A weapon you touch is coated in a sinister disease which inhibits healing. Attacks made with the weapon within the duration are difficult to heal, requiring a Heal check (a standard action) or if healing with magic a caster level check, both DC 11 + initiator level. The wounds made continue to not heal even after the maneuver's duration has expired, and last a heal check or caster level check is successful.
There is no save, but creatures immune to disease are immune to this maneuver's effects.
Blighted Serpent (Stance) | |
Level: | 3 |
---|---|
Prerequisite: | Two Blighted Serpent maneuvers |
Initiation Action: | Swift |
Range: | Personal |
Target: | Self |
When I said "deadly neurotoxin," the "deadly" was in massive sarcasm quotes. I could take a bath in this stuff. Put it on cereal, rub it right into my eyes. Honestly, it's not deadly at all... to me.
While in this stance you are immune to disease and poison, and are constantly under the effects of detect poison out to the limits of your vision.
Blighted Serpent (Strike) [Acid] | |
Level: | 1 |
---|---|
Initiation Action: | Standard |
Range: | Melee or Ranged Attack |
Target: | One creature or object |
Duration: | Instantaneous |
Saving Throw: | None |
The blood of the queen of worms is said to be a poison so potent it destroys reality about it like an acid. You wonder what effect it will have on human flesh.
Channeling the dreadful powers of the squalid queen, you wrap your weapon in a deadly acid which eats away at a creature's resistance to poisons. Make an attack. On a successful attack roll you deal an additional 1d6 acid damage +1 acid damage per initiator level, and the target takes a -2 penalty to saves against disease and poison until the end of your next turn.
This maneuver is a supernatural ability.
Blighted Serpent (Rush) | |
Level: | 4 |
---|---|
Prerequisite: | One Blighted Serpent maneuver |
Initiation Action: | Move action; see text |
Range: | Personal |
Target: | Self |
Duration: | 1 round |
Saving Throw: | Fortitude negates |
Your body fumes with thick yellow smoke, no doubt a side effect of your toxic blood, which pours out of every part of your body. It smells bitter and vile.
You can make a move action (or more than one move action if performing a double move or running), leaving clouds of smoke in your path which hang around for 1 round. This smoke provides total concealment, and creatures passing through it must make a Fort save vs nausea for 1d4 rounds. The smoke gives you partial concealment while moving, giving you 20% miss chance from attacks of opportunity.
Blighted Serpent (Rush) | |
Level: | 6 |
---|---|
Prerequisite: | Two Blighted Serpent maneuvers |
Initiation Action: | Move action; see text |
Range: | Personal |
Target: | Self |
Duration: | 1 round, and 1 round/level |
Saving Throw: | Fortitude negates |
The smoke running off your body seems to hang in mid-air, freezing creatures unfortunate to be in the area in place.
This maneuver acts like smoking serpent path, except at the end of 1 round the smoke solidifies into a solid yet weightless object, as if the air itself as simply ceased to flow. Creatures stuck in the cloud are stuck and exposed to the save vs nausea each round unless they make a Strength check (a move action), DC equal to the DC of this maneuver. Strength checks are also needed for every 5 ft of solid smoke a creature tries to pass through. The smoke can be used to create bridges and other structures for the duration, if the initiator has enough movement speed.
The miss chance for attack of opportunity rises to 50%.
Blighted Serpent (Boost) | |
Level: | 8 |
---|---|
Prerequisite: | Four Blighted Serpent maneuvers |
Initiation Action: | Swift |
Range: | 10 ft |
Area: | 10 ft radius spread centered on initiator |
Duration: | 1 minute |
Saving Throw: | Fortitude partial |
If your nose could vomit, it would be doing so right now.
This functions like Trogdolyte's Musk, except it is a save against nausea, and they are sickened on a successful save. Those with scent who fail the save have their scent completely destroyed, which can only be repaired by effects such as regenerate and greater magic.
Blighted Serpent (Boost) | |
Level: | 2 |
---|---|
Prerequisite: | One Blighted Serpent maneuver |
Initiation Action: | Swift |
Range: | 10 ft |
Area: | 10 ft radius spread centered on initiator |
Duration: | 1 minute |
Saving Throw: | Fortitude negates |
No deodorant can save you.
You give off a foul odor not unlike a trogdolyte, but somehow worse. Those within your aura must save or be sickened for as long as they remain in the area, and 1 minute after. Creatures with scent take a -4 penalty. The smell is so bad, not even immunity to poison will save you and it will affect even creatures immune to poison and sickening (such as constructs). A successful save renders the creature immune until they re-enter your aura.
Creatures with scent who are sickened lose their scent for the duration, as their nose burns. While this maneuver is active, you are not affected by other smells (including trogdolytes stench) or use scent of your own, for your own smell is overpowering.
