Arugh! This is a load of hot garbage! Get it off me!
Thought to be believed to be the result of improper use of animation magic or the binding of fire elementals and its materials carelessly thrown the trash, these creatures are thought to be related to ragamuffins. Piles of trash are whipped up within a tornado of flame and thrown about, burning, heating, and rarely melting its waste contents as it flies around at ground level. They are attracted to loose items, viewing them as trash to add to its collective, and magical items. Needless to say adventurers are a walking buffet.
Combat[edit]
As mindless creatures they pursue their prey and simply hover over them, sometimes collapsing into a pile of hot garbage to keep their prey from running away. They are very simple creatures.
Burn (Ex): A hot garbage's swarm attack deals bludgeoning/piercing/slashing damage plus fire damage from the heated garbage chunks and hot air. Those who take damage from the fire damage must succeed on a DC 13 Reflex save or catch on fire. The flame burns for 1d4 rounds. The save DC is Constitution- based.
Creatures hitting a hot garbage with natural weapons or unarmed attacks take fire damage as though hit by the garbage’s attack, and also catch on fire unless they succeed on a Reflex save.
Bury (Ex): As a move action the hot garbage can "go limp" and bury any creature smaller than it within its space. It makes a special grapple check with a +4 bonus check for its virtual large size (+5 grapple). Creatures that fail are prone and buried under the hot garbage, subject to its swarm damage and distraction as normal but being grappled. Its not capable of any other grapple actions. It can "go active" again as a move action. This does not provoke attacks of opportunity.
Distraction (Ex): Any living creature that begins its turn with a swarm in its square must succeed on a DC 13 Fortitude save or be nauseated for 1 round. The save DC is Constitution-based.
