You can cast this spell when you or an ally within 30 feet of you will take damage from a spell, magical ability, or supernatural ability that allows a Reflex saving throw for half damage. As an immediate action, you send a volley of magical projectile towards the spell, magical ability, or supernatural ability in order to intercept it. This spell functions like Magic Missile, except the projectiles don't deal damage, but instead reduce the damage of the targeted spell, magic ability, or supernatural ability. This does not immunize against the possible side effects of the spell or ability you want to intercept. If you intercept a spell, a spell-like ability, or a supernatural ability in order to protect an ally, that ally still has the right to make his Reflex saving throw for half damage. On the other hand, if you are the target of the spell or ability, in this case the use of this spell is done in place of your Reflex saving throw.
Note: The caster must see the spell, magic ability, or supernatural ability happening in order to use that spell. This spell is counted as Magic Missile and is therefore compatible with all feats, class abilities, and other similar effects that normally apply to Magic Missile. A spell caster can use Magic Missile as a counter-spell against that spell (using the normal counter-spell rule).
