This type is a substitute for the standard Magical Beast and Dragon types and is NOT part of the SRD.
Magical beast is practically a catch-all category for the multitude of creatures whose origins cannot be explained by nature or the Outer Planes. This type ranges from the intelligent canines such as worgs and blink dogs to dragons and the almighty tarraque.
Features[edit]
A magical beast has the following features.
- d12-sided Hit Dice.
- Base attack bonus equal to total Hit Dice (as Fighter).
- A magical beast has two good saves and one poor save, which are indicated in its creature entry.
- Skill points equal to (4 + Int modifier, minimum 1) per Hit Die, with quadruple skill points for the first Hit Die.
Traits[edit]
A magical beast possesses the following traits (unless otherwise noted in a creature’s entry).
- Darkvision out to 120 feet and low-light vision.
- Magical beasts eat, sleep, and breathe.
