Necromantic Immortality [Reserve]
Prerequisites: Must be able to cast a 5th level necromancy spell.Benefit: As long as you have a necromancy spell of 5th level or higher available to cast, you gain a form of limited immortality. You remain conscious after being slain, as your soul remains trapped inside your body. You can perceive your surroundings but cannot take any action beyond thinking (not even mental actions). The only way to speak with you in this state is the speak with dead spell, which allows you to answer as you please. Your deceased body is preserved as per gentle repose. If your body is left in a state where raise dead would be capable of restoring you, the necromantic energy within you slowly brings you back to life. After 12 hours you are raised from the dead, as per raise dead, except that you do not lose any level. If your head is severed the process is interrupted, but joining the head to your neck restarts it. If your head is destroyed, then you die normally. If the body is too damaged to restore itself, then the process only starts after it is mended.
You can stay in this state of near death for 1 day, a week if your highest available necromancy spell is 6th level, a month if it is 7th level, a year if it is 8th level and indefinitely if it is 9th level. After this period passes, if your body is unable to be restored, then you die as normal.
As a secondary benefit, you gain a +1 competence bonus to your caster level when casting necromancy spells.
