These small, round, blue-green fruits have faint silvery speckles. They taste like a burst of tangy sweet fresh floral water with a crisp snap. We don't recommend you swallow the seeds.
These berries grow on small shrubs with thick roots that tangle around and send up knees out of the shallow waters they prefer to grow in. The berries themselves, when magically potent, have a variety of different magical effects, as listed below. The shrub produces one potent berry each day of its growing season, which is 8 weeks each late summer and fall. The shrub has no more than 12 fruit available at a time. Unlike most magical plants, a nixieberry stays magically potent for 5 days after ripening. The shrub also produces non-potent berries during this time, but a nixie or a Druid of 3rd level or higher can immediately discern which berries are potent and which are not.
- Each nixieberry possesses the effects of goodberry.
- A berry mixed in with food or water provides the benefits of purify food and drink.
- The consumer gains the effects of water breathing for 10 minutes.
- A –2 penalty on saves against the supernatural, spell-like and spell abilities of fey creatures for 1 week.
- An individual berry can be used to enhance a potion made by a druid increasing its caster level by 1 and granting the metamagic benefit of Extend Spell without increasing the potion's spell level. This additional benefit is only conferred if the potion is consumed up to 5 days after being brewed.
