Pathfinder Warmage
This alternate class feature is an alteration to the Warmage from the Miniatures Handbook to be more viable in games of Pathfinder, or in general really.
Class: WarmageCArc
Level: 1st-20th
Replaces: Advanced Learning (Altered progression), Sudden Empower, Sudden Enlarge, Sudden Widen, Sudden Maximize
Benefit: A Pathfinder Warmage gain the following class features:
Spell List: The warmage's spell list is expanded to include the following spells: 1st—focus shield; 2nd—shimmering forcefield; 3rd— ash storm, volcanic storm; 4th—obsidian flow; 5th—lightning arc; 6th— arcane cannon, ultrabeam; 9th— finger of destruction
Battle Pool: A warmage is an expert of war magic, using her natural talent to enhance it. She gains daily a pool of battle points equal to half her class level + her Intelligence modifier. She regains all of her battle points at the same time she regains her spells for the day. A warmage may spend a battle point when casting a spell to increase its DC by 1 or increase its caster level by 1. At 9th level she can spend an additional point to increase this bonus to +2, and again at 15th level to a maximum bonus of +3 to her caster level or DC. As she gain level she gain more uses of her Battle Pool:
Warmage Edge (Ex): While a warmage has at least one point in her battle pool, she adds her Intelligence bonus to her spell damage. This only applies to damaging spells and only to one instance of the spell. If a spell has multiple effect, such as magic missile or scorching ray she can split the bonus amount of damage between them as she wishes.
Sudden Metamagic (Ex): At 4th level, a warmage may spend a point from her battle pool when she casts a spell modifier by a metamagic feat. If she does she does not lengthen the spellcasting time of her spell due to casting a metamagic spell spontaneously.
Shape Spell (Ex): The 8th level warmage can spend 1 point from her battle pool as she casts an area and effect spells that use one of the following shapes: burst, cone, cylinder, emanation, or spread to alter it. The alteration consists of creating spaces within the spell’s area or effect that are not subject to the spell. The minimum dimension for these spaces is a 5-foot cube. Furthermore, any shapeable spells have a minimum dimension of 5 feet instead of 10 feet.
Metamagic Draw (Ex): A 12th level warmage does not need to know a metamagic feat to apply it to a spell. As a swift action she may spend 3 battle points, if she does so she chooses a single [metamagic] feat she meets the prerequisite for and gains access to it until she next regains her spells. She may only have a single [metamagic] through this ability, if she uses this ability to gain a new feat she loses access to the previously gained feat.
Tactical Spell (Ex): A 16th level warmage can make one of her area of effect spells affect a truly large area. She may spend 5 points from her battle pool as she casts a spell which affects an area to multiply the size of that area by 100. If the range of the spell is long, medium or close it is also multiplied by 100.
Spell Focus: A 1st level warmage gain Spell Focus (Evocation) as a bonus feat.
Advanced Learning (Ex): As the warmage class feature except she receives it at 3rd level and every 3 levels thereafter.
Bonus Feat: At 5th level and each 5 levels thereafter, a warmage gains a [Combat] or [Metamagic] feat of her choice as a bonus feat. She must meet the prerequisite of the feat if any.
War Magic Mastery (Ex): At 20th level the warmage becomes a true master of warmagic, the first damaging spell she cast in each round is automatically affected by the Empower Spell metamagic feat without increasing it spell level or casting time.
