As you cast this spell you imbue the target with a large amount of positive energy. You restore a number of hit points to the target equal to 3d8 + 1 per caster level (maximum +20). If the target was unconscious or dying, you restore an extra +1 hit point per caster level. If the healing is enough to return the target to consciousness, it may immediately get up from prone as a free action without provoking an attack of opportunity and take a standard action. At which point, it initiative in the battle change to be above yours as if it had readied an action.
You cannot cast surge of life outside of your turn.
