This spell showcases most flaws with the epic spell system.
- Expensive development cost. Monetarily setback and experience setback combine to keep your level way below any meleers who managed to get to epic.
- Weak effect. Sure, it's 30d6 damage, but that is on the Low power end of epic.
- Large spellcraft DCs for simple effects. Basically, abuse your skill checks or never cast spells. How not fun.
- Long casting times. In this case, it is giving up your move action to do 5d6 damage more than polar ray.
- Saving throws that negate any epicness. Make a reflex save, and bam, the damage is practically negated. On that note, spell resistance still applies. Even epic magic can be shrugged off by racial features. What the heck?

I don't really see the point of this spell; it costs a lot but isn't any good.
