The test should clarify whether you need to have access to both disciplines or not. For instance, could a Warblade take Brutal Murder by way of having access to Tiger Claw, or does their lack of access to Shadow Hand prevent it? --DanielDraco 09:20, 24 August 2012 (UTC)

Actually, that was a bad example, because the maneuver's prerequisites answer that. But the rules text does not eliminate the possibility of cross-discipline maneuvers that lack prerequisites entirely, or that lack prerequisites for one of the two disciplines.
