There's probably something here if you don't mind doing a bunch of legwork and making corrections and modifications on your own rather than using it like it tries to be as written. Assuming you can figure everything out, it'll probably feel a lot like you wrote a template yourself. This concept would be better served as a short class. The fact it makes you pay for special abilities from a source creature (being the only interesting part of what's here) for extra LA on top of Racial HD is the final nail in the "this is boring" coffin, which I didn't even know they made. This is very close to an "Oppose" instead, and the fact that there's a bit of something usable hiding in there is the only reason its not, for me anyways. |

(EDIT: Ok, didn't notice the 3 RHD you gain. Thats a bit better, though rather odd.) -- Eiji-kun (talk) 23:17, 26 February 2014 (UTC)
Other Comments[edit]
Just did a cleanup edit to correct some formatting (like odd capitalization, commas in funny spots or broken sentences, some linking and general wiki formatting stuff). Could still stand to have some more linking/formatting corrections and edits made to clean up a few things that read strangely. Also, I read the article through while I was at it. So, it got me wondering a few things. Without me having to pull out books and flip through to find the glaistig and the sirine, I'm not going to comment on balance. I am going to comment on a template that adds 3 HD of fey. If the point here is to allow characters to play fey creatures without tacking on lots of power, why three levels with possible level adjustment? To me, the core idea of this would work a lot better as a 3 level specialty class (like a paragon class). This would give players the option of how much fey-ness they really want added onto their character and allow for lower level starting play. As a class, it would also allow for mid-game transformative elements, which is additional flavor a template can't handle as well with a similar mechanical outcome.
As for awkward or incorrect mechanics, monsters don't generally have clarified class skills spelled out in their entries. Also, the feats thing is a bit misleading. If the character has racial HD from his base race, he'll only get 1 feat (since it looks like the two granted feats are for being a first level character and the next one gained at 3rd level). The base attack bonus line implies the 1/2 total HD is applied to all his HD rather than just his fey HD. A lot of weird confusion on what the HD do would be cleared up if it were all just placed under the HD section. Why CR +4 or +2 when LA is +1 or +0?
