Unrealistic and unbalanced weapon: for istance, how can a light weapon deliver 2d4 attack with 18-20x2 crit if it can be used as shortsword without penalty? If a weapon has this stats and characteristics, it is differently constructed than a shortsword, and recquires a different fencing technique and different wielding skills. Some part of this weapon must be corrected.

Very good overall balance, close to what something official would be. No breakable effects, good damage that is reliable, Exotic, good damage types, and good defensive and offensive bonus that isnt too hard on balance, but pleasant to have.

Hi! It seems to me quite a wrong thing to give a one-handed (and historically pretty light) melee weapon the same statististics of a Falchion. I suggest to and some extras pensaties or, e ven better, to consider it basically as
a messer (2d4 damage, 20x3 critica attack). Otherwise the "

Kopis" would be an over-powered weapon.

Summarizing from what I said in chat: I like this weapon. Essentially a falchion/kukri, I think the shield AC bypass and buff is rather unique and interesting. Sword and board is a hard style to handle, but I think this does the sword and board style well. Good job.

if we are talking about historical accuracy, a falchion was never and had never been a 2h weapon, Aramir. Additionally, if you think an exotic weapon should be balanced according to martial proficiency weapons, that's a big issue. This takes a feat to wield properly, it's 2d4 damage. There are exotics by the Wizards that deal far more damage, so balance-wise, I think it is fine. The Falchion is an underused weapon because it does not hold up to any other weapons of its class, so you are comparing an exotic light weapon to one of the worst Martial weapons in the SRD. This is comparing apples to oranges.--Locke (talk) 08:01, 12 February 2020 (UTC)

After getting some positive feedback from Leziad, I've decided to not change anything about the weapon except for it's use as a masterwork butcher's tool. Exotic weapons are not balanced by Martial standards. --Locke (talk) 17:51, 13 February 2020 (UTC)

In response to Soslan19 - if you read the entire description, when this kopis is wielded as a shortsword, it adopts the shortsword damage and crit profile. It's actually fairly plainly spelled out that it does this. This is a common feature of exotic weapons on dnd-wiki. To clarify, you do not get the special features of this exotic weapon without the exotic proficiency. --Locke (talk) 06:15, 19 March 2021 (UTC)
