Class feels all over the place, and not very coherent. Being a SAD class, it shouldn't get +14 to its primary stat just from the class itself, before any items, gets flight way too early, and being able to make melee attacks at range sounds deceptively meh, but is actually exceptionally strong.

How I'd do the charm:


Charm (Ex): A magic girl can create a magical charm that functions as a focus for her abilities. The magical charm consumes 100gp worth of materials per magic girl level and must be keyed to a specific slot on the body (Ring, Neck, Head, Face, etc). If the charm is ever destroyed the creator of the charm takes damage equal to half her maximum HP. A Magic Girl effectively has a caster level equal to her class level for the purposes of determining the caster level of the charm


Charm: A charm appears to be a non-magical piece of jewelry worth no less than 100gp. It functions as the magical focus for a Magic Girl's abilities, and must be in the Magic Girl's possession for her abilities to function. A charm in the hands of a non-magic girl loses all of it's apparent magical properties until it finds it's way into the possession of a magic girl once again. Like normal items it can have additional magical affects added on top of it following the rules in the Magic Item Compendium. A charm has a caster level equal to the Magic Girl class level of it's creator and automatically increases it's value to match it's owner should they gain a level since it's creation. A charm has a hardness equal to the Magic Girl class level of it's creator with HP equal to one half the HP of it's creator.

Faint transmutation; Caster Level Varies; Charm class feature; Price 100 gp/caster level; Weight 2lb.


Ex-Magic Girls: A magic girl that loses her Charm for more than 5 minutes loses all magic girl abilities (except Charm) and cannot thereafter gain levels in Magic Girl until she recovers her magical charm or creates a new one and attunes it for 24 hours.



Might want to make an intelligent item version, but that'd be too time consuming to do for me.

IP Edits and Balance[edit]

I spotted an unknown IP change taking it from Moderate to Very High. Now I haven't read the class in full yet so I don't know what balance this actually is. Having skimmed the class, it looks wonky without anything related to balance. It gets Charisma to attack, damage, perception, sense motive and AC, gets a +8 enhancement bonus to Charisma from the class (effectively an epic item) with an additional +6 untyped bonus, fly (perfect) at will at level 5 along with ranged melee attacks at level 6, SR 11 + character level, eventually quadruples all morale bonuses on them, and a few other minor goodies. Honestly, kinda borked without a balance rating. I don't think it's quite at VH, definitely more than M, but it doesn't fit good design either with how SAD-focused it is and the number of bonuses it gets... and making melee attacks at range as early as 6 might well push it to VH, though I'm not sure. --Ghostwheel (talk) 02:06, 31 December 2016 (MST)
